If anyone here has a team for this 'race' they are doing, I am a member and am not on a team yet. I'm in the US but I don't think that matters. Just let me know.

I honestly never thought this would get past the design phase. It's hard not to admire privateers going after the top class. I wonder if he truly intends to go it alone or if this is all a fishing expedition hoping to lure in one of the rumoured marques looking at LMP1? It's one thing to get funds to build a car but sponsorship will be needed to race. If the car is going LMP1-L racing surely they would have to go the AER engine route?
Come on Mr. Nicolet, we'd like to see you next. |

It seems like the idea is to woo a big sponsor with the whole open-source LMP1 concept. It's a unique way to interact with fans/customers.
This work is incredibly admirable. |

They've said LMP1-H and it even says HY on the side of that show car so surely the intention, if it ever materializes, is not for L subclass... they have the option to choose unlike the factories for some reason

Got my fingers crossed for these guys. It just seems so ambitious given the foundations it's all built on.

Good catch. It really does look like they are trying to woo a manufacturer.

Yeah good luck to them
Of course if they do end up in H, they will not be able to enjoy the generous BoP aids given to privateers in L |

Before they go hybrid, they have to enter. Great ambition and hope someone contacts them for interest in running the cars.

Might very well have misunderstood but I thought their plan was to run the car(s) themselves?
In any case, I really hope they make it! I really like this project. |

Seeking a generous BOP for a privateer has been proven as "fools gold" by rebellion at lemans this year. The perrin car looks the part and he will hopefully realise the trap that rebellion fell into and not repeat such a stupid move.......I even said rebellions engine was pants before the LM race and look what happened. If perrin have any sense they will go to zytek or AER and keep their hybrid options open with both, as flybrid could also work with AER and bring torotracks funding to the party in order to advertise the benefits of their recent investment in flybrid.

Can someone answer a few simple questions for me:
1) how much money, the minimum amount, is mr perrin seeking in order to put a single LMP1 car on the WEC grid? 2) whats the whole lead time for manufacture, crash test, homologation and shakedown of the whole car? Surely mr perrin will have approached someone like martin short, this sort of project would be right up RollCentres street, they could easily handle the fabrication + machining work, I think they dabble in light composite work so would only need to sub out the tub lay-up and major body panels and crash sled testing......hopefully some sort of DSC feature will hook them up with a financier as its already nearly too late for lemans 2015...... |

Testing + racing = 8 300 000 £? That still sounds (relatively) rather too cheap, I seem to remember poor AMR's alleged budget being larger than that in the pre-WEC days.

£8.7million is around $13.8million. So thats not really too far off. Im guessing this is bottom line, minimum. $15million per season is cheap for something like Indycar for comparison.
