As it is now, there are still a lot of variations in all cars across the field.
It still surprises me how much freedom there still is, in what was touted as a control chassis. |

The big freedoms are in the front suspension & the damper package as a minimum... if these are tightened up in the next round of Generational change... the cost might actually come down...

You'd imagine so.
There seems to be a fairly broad window in which to mount suspension pick-up points to the front chassis rails in them. My opinion on this would've been to mandate set locations for the suspension arms, +/- a small tolerance, but allow say 3 mounting points from that location using a control design bracket. You'd still have adjustability, but it alleviates the R&D costs. The other, would be homologated engine crossmembers, which also tie into the front end. But of course, this will never happen while there's an open-slather approach to engine suppliers... |

This news coincides nicely with that Lexus story. I hope they open up the body rules a bit for more variety in terms of aero and look.

I would like to see aero changes too, but I hope that it's tough and not being flimsy, apart from having more downforce.

Less aero grip would be better, let's have some movement and driver ability.

So going down the WTCC/DTM/Group A classes. Here's a brilliant idea. Leave it up to Aus GT or bring back the production series. Simple.

Ugh, not looking forward to the inevitable invasion of small, silly hatchbacks come 2017. It's a shame. One of the reasons I much prefer the V8 SuperCars is that it still features proper cars (unlike, say, the WTCC). Wouldn't surprise me if Penske is second-guessing his decision to get involved already.
But, hopefully I'm being overly pessimistic. |

That's how i read it too, but no 2 door 2 seaters for example.
What does that rule out though that would potentially be seen by manufacturers as a likely entry? |

I want to see the genius who is going to make every engine perform the same. Trying to make a supercharged six cylinder do the same as a NA V8 and as a turbo four cylinder should be an awesome job.

Will be interesting to see how they keep a lid on development of the turbo engines.

Given I've had to suffer through the "evolution" of the FIA touring car scene, which went from larger, great looking race cars to slow, tiny ones you might understand I'm worried. |

They struggle to keep it correct with limited options. Prepare for whinging, bleating, moaning from everyone not running first like never before. And then there's the opinions from whats left of the fans. |

Which are all already in GT3, so may not be an issue for those manufacturers
