Well that was an interesting qualifying session, top 4 (Harvey, Pigot, Kaiser, Jones) only 0.1s apart. Carlin no longer hold an advantage: https://twitter.com/CarlinRacing/sta...29727200813056
Chilton's thoughts on the session: https://twitter.com/maxchilton/statu...28697658482690 |

Sounds like a good driver for the series. Would prefer to see Hargrove in though, he's fantastic. |

Not impossible that both will run with 8Star, just a matter of funding it. Rayhall's excelled at road racing and ovals (in stock cars) so I'm looking forward to seeing him in Indy Lights competition.

This might be Chilton's last weekend in Indy Lights, he seems to be having second thoughts about his participation: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/118634

Looking second-rate compared to upcoming talent in the series probably has something to do with it as well... |

Jones has impressed much more than Chilton. So that's not a suprise, but it could meant that he has withdraw his idea to join IndyCar with Carlin in 2016.

Judging by results alone Carlin would be mad not to take Jones. But Chilton has always had a lot of backing, it's the only thing that allowed him to reach F1. But single-seaters is not viable if he wants any form of success

Don't forget Chilton owns 100% of Carlin.

His dad Grahame “Chily” Chilton, is the founding partner of Capsicum, which includes Capsicum Motorsport Group. In 2009, Carlin Motorsport, originally found in 1996 by Trevor Carlin and Martin Stone, was reborn as Carlin, part of the Capsicum Motorsport Group.

Chilton just qualified 6th for the first race at Barber Motorsports Park, +0.6027s from the polesitter Spencer Pigot.

Considering his lack of track time in the car prior to this weekend, Rayhall did a solid job in qualifying. |

Pigot takes the points lead, with Jones being punctured by Kaiser, who is fast but hits too many things. Harvey was second (again) whilst Chilton got his maiden podium!
Rayhall was fast and finished 6th fyi |

Carlin didn't seem that fast all weekend, that dominance in St Petersburg may have been a one-off.
Matthew Brabham was saying that Pigot's strength is pace on cold tyres, and most of that 6 second lead was indeed opened up in the first few laps. |

What I liked about Rayhalls effort on Sundays race is he
remained patient and made his passes at the right part of the track. Waited for the tires to wear a bit of his competitors then pounced. Some guys try to be a hero and go for a pass on tight fast apex's that usually would end poorly. I think he has a great career ahead of him. There is no shortage of young talent in the Road to Indy classes. |

Good question. Brabham didn't do well on Formula E either.

Brabham had a mega run in Punta del Este but then had his car savaged by a sausage kerb.
The question Imo isn't about Brabham, but Andretti. For a team so good, why are they nowhere in Lights? They've got 2 capable drivers, Brabham would be a title contender, but it just isn't happening... |

Maybe they're having trouble getting to grips with the new car? |

Brabham only did a short testing program which drastically reduced the amount of feedback Andretti got to set up the car. They've had some mechanical woes as well.

Well, I thought it was something like that; not enough testing, which in turn makes it harder to deal with a new car. Andretti are no slouches and I'm sure it will come good.

Brabham doesn't have the Mazda scholarship this season so he's on a race-by-race deal (whenever Andretti can organise sponsorship for the entry). His cousin Sam had to quit racing in the UK because of a lack of funds. Shelby Blackstock is in the full time car.

Sean Rayhall getting the wheel duty for 8Star this week at
the Indy Road track race. Indy Lights will do 2 races this week. Good chance for Sean to build on his opportunity. |

Harvey, Pigot and Ed Jones were within 0.1-0.3s of each other during the in-season testing at the IMS road course, with Max Chilton (+0.8s) only participating in the morning session due to his Nissan LMP1 duties. http://www.indylights.com/docs/defau...2.pdf?sfvrsn=0
