Confirmed entries are looking good for the first round at Taupo, 6 TLX cars 7 ST cars and 9 TL cars, a total of 22 V8 Touring Cars should provide good racing up and own the field. Pukekohe is looking even better with at least 25 cars at this point in time. |

That will be a good grid! Puke is always fun when the grid goes around the corner...

At last - a grid of over 20 cars. A massive step in the right direction, so hopefully, there is now space on the programme for extra grids for other groups, thus, broadening the overall appeal of a meeting.
Rome wasn't built in a day as they say, but great to see a move forwards. |

There is two sides to stories as we all know. Its believed that there were sponsors of one of these cars that was owed money by V8ST for supply of goods. No doubt this will all come out eventually.

There's often two sides to a story, but you must wonder why the same people keep finding themselves in dispute over their debts. And they have been in and out of those situations repeatedly over many years. It's not a coincidence, they make it an art-form.

$$$$$ - the less you need to compete, the lower the chance of owing or being owed.
Most series manage to keep well away from the big money and treat racing as a sport, not a business. Far better to have just $20,000 in the bank than be owed $200,000... |

Correct. The people I have knowledge about have always tried to compete at a level beyond their means using other peoples money. Ultimately large chunks of it never get repaid, and the trail of unpaid bills has become a pretty long one. As I said, they have it down to an art-form.

There are many people in Motorsport that spend other people's money. No matter what level of Motorsport. It's just always the same people getting all the money. You have to remember there are 20 cars on the grid not just one. Without a full grid there is no form of racing. |

You are correct, and that's what I was referring to. I don't understand nzv8fan's last post at all.

well that weekend of racing was a great start. Very suprising result especially since he was only 6th fastest. There is a clear gap between the 2 types of cars. hope they can make it closer so that it encourages more racing and equal opportunities. However, other than tyres what else was changed? Big congrats to all those that made this happen. Bring on Puke.l

In regards to car speed I am not sure how much you can read into the weekend lap times. Most teams had not tested on the new tyre, the weather conditions were unpredictable and there were so many differing tyre strategies that every races had a different group of cars that appeared at the front.

For example, the TLX rules are supposed to equalise the performance between all their engines, so if we except that this is the case, then why is Bargwanna's car clearly much faster than any other TLX car? Driver? Team? Or a combination of both? Part of the TLX teams difficulties are that they are free to use what ever springs rates, anti-roll bars, damper valving etc, they want to, which places a very significant engineering challenge on both the driver and the team to get the right combination for each track. Obviously Bargwanna is a very good driver with a lot of experience at the highest levels of Australian V8 Supercars, which means that he car also help engineer the car from the drivers seat. V8ST Teams on the other hand all have to use the exact same control springs, anti-roll bars, and control dampers, which means that most if not all the ST teams know were the cars sweet spot is, and can optimise the chassis reasonably quickly. TLX drivers also have cockpit adjustable anti-roll bar's, which places further demands on the driver to get the car dialled in, where as the ST driver has no such cockpit adjustments and instead must concentrate on getting the best out of the car in terms of adapting to what they have got instead of trying to change the car on the run. |
