SFonseca should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Only 1 manufacturer at LeMans

The Caddy LeMans pull-out leaves Bentley as the only confirmed manufacturer set for next year's prototype class at Le Mans.
Is this a small tragedy?? Why is this happen?? Are 2004 new rules the answer for this??

What can we expect in future?

To me the sportscar world needs to unite into one major series. FIA GT, sportscars, ALMS etc all need to see sense and try to fit their series together around Le Mans. Le Mans is one of the top four races in the world (Indy 500, Monaco GP & Daytona 500), but is the only one without a series attached.
If this happened then it would attract ,more manufacturers.
Although we all love to see privateers do well, le Mans still needs the manufacturers.

Depends on your point of view, some of the best LM races have been when few works teams entered, 1996 springs to mind.
There should be more than one works team next year, but not in the big class,
Corvette, Morgan, Spyker, Bentley,
and some 'factory suported' teams, Audi, Porsche, MG, TVR.

i think the new regs for 2004 are mostly to blame...but i'm still hopeful for a good year in 03. on top of the usual courage, pescarolo, racing for holland, oreca...will we look at the audis differently if they're in the hands of say 3 private teams all fighting each other?

I agree that we should have a more united Sportscar scene....

Look at how F1 is managed in comparison to Sportscar racing.. Its far more succesful...Dull as ditchwater mind, but commercially succesful..

If the Sports cars were internationally managed into one series for a 'World Enduro Series' then I would like to see the ACO take uo the Baton and govern it.... If the FIA got there hands on it, I fear it would just be corrupted into 'No racing here mate, just big Business' as is the case with F1...

It might be hard to define 'Manufacturer' as often the lead private team has assistance, look at McLaren in '95 and the various Joest entries having bolt on goodies from Porsche.

Still it could be a better race without the big money teams with 15 min rear end changes etc. It would certianly help the smaller teams get some sponsership if they had a better chance of glory, after all this year all they could hope for was a distant 3rd if one Audi / Bentley had a problem.

The FIA GT Championship doesn't need the big LMP900 or LM675 cars to mess its grid up. Its doing extremely well right now, thank you very much.

But the FIA GT Championship falls a long way short of being Le Mans..
