I decided to carry out the following exercise:
I took all the best sector times for each sector and for each session. I then found the average time across the 5 sessions. I then added the average time for the 3 sectors and came up with what would be a "average fast(est) lap". I carried out this exercise for both 2015 and 2016 prologues. I did this to eliminate any peaks and also to lesson the impact of the possibility that a team was using a specific session to carry out a specific task (i.e. simulating qualy, improving on a certain sector, tire degradation, etc). There are quite a few interesting conclusions, but I was really interested to see how the cars are doing , on average, in relation to last year. This is what I have found:
N.B. - The comparisons can be and are most likely flawed because comparing tests on two different days (years) is very shaky (to say the least). Many control factors can vary. N.B. - Teams can , and most likely, had different programs over the 5 sessions. N.B. - Cars are in different stages of development and had different aero packages |

Some snow drops at Spa yesterday, what about today? Couldn't arrange the test later because of the ever lovely testing restrictions

that's really amusing (and so very typical spa), i left on sunday evening after a couple of days there and it was actually pretty warm early on monday morning and hadn't exactly been close to zero over the weekend. apparently they were being a bit secret squirrel with the circuit about what they were up to there, and requested their own set of keys for the place...
anyone know what the drive by and static noise readings are for the porsche? |

These engines always run better in cooler conditions, but when does it become "too cool" () for it to go past optimal range?

They had no choice. The rules state that you cannot test at a track less than 30 days before the event takes place there. As Spa 6 hours is on May 7th, Porsche needed to test there before the end of this month.

Are Porsche using LED lighting matrices as well? Oh poor GT and P2 drivers....their eyes are gonna be blind the whole night.

God the prototype headlights are all ugly now. Can't we go back to the shapely smaller cut 2012 TS030 lights era please?

My understanding is that these lights will only be used at Le Mans, COTA and Bahrain.

Why do they even need headlights at Bahrain, the place is lit to be more visible than the other rounds are during day...

Even in case on power outage they will immediately red flag it, because apparently it's "unsafe" or some shiz, as demonstrated by the practice sessions last year (or whenever it was)

Do we think the sessions would be kept going even if the posts had auxilliary systems?
