HSCC Cadwell Park June 18-19th
Time to bring this up
I have entered the Mitter in FE HFJ there is nothing like the wail of a 3 cyl two stroke in the morning meeting clashes with Monza so some will be elsewhere RE |

It's already up- on the Historic calendar so therefore a thread started!
As you say, there will be some cars at Monza, but maybe as our weather seems to be all over the place, it will be better at Cadwell than in Italy! |

personally, i prefer the grass roots atmosphere of Cadwell
others relish the experience of such a classic and inconic place as Monza each unto their own RE |

HSCC calendar suggests there are two races for front engined FJ and two for rear engined.Delighted you are bringing your 3 Cylinder two stroke - best sound at Wolds meeting last year was two DKWs running together - sound like baby Ferraris (just not quite as pretty..)
I think that few circuits- if any - in UK are better to watch historic racers than Cadwell. For this and other reasons I am a regular at Cadwell but a very occasional visitor to Goodwood . Cadwell is an enthusiasts ' venue . |

Looking forward to Cadwell, made the trip 2 years ago but only stopped Saturday night and had to leave early doors on the Sunday. Better organised this year, travelling up Friday to catch all the action. Wonderful circuit for viewing such great cars, love the atmosphere of HSCC meetings.

Provisonal Entry List & Timetable is on HSCC site.
Entry looks better than expected, FJ get separate races for front & rear engine car. |

Not bad and excellent FF1600 field; saloon cars thin - I wonder why ? Great circuit - far better than, say, Silverstone - which invariably gets huge grids for historics . Surely not the old 'But Cadwell is so far away ' whinge? Ho hum- I will make a weekend of it anyway...

Just got home from day1 bit cool at times but always enjoyable time at Cadwell. Some good racing especially in the open wheeled races. Back there tomorrow!

this was, again, a very nice meeting
i enjoyed it a lot, especially the grassroots feeling generelly very fair, if hard racing good atmosphere circuit is not very forgiving several wheels ripped of and some frames bent grids were thin, but thi will be better, if there is no clash with Monza in future i will be back RE |

I enjoyed watching your car through Hall Bends especially. A great weekend's racing and a lovely atmosphere, as ever. The BTCC round was at my local circuit yesterday but I didn't regret missing it (again ) by seeing such a variety of cars at Cadwell .

Don't have time to post too many photos from this event but here are a few batches - random sample so all a bit mixed up.

Driving up on Friday night in horrendous conditions I feared bad omens for my weekend, but had a great time! I only ran the TR5 in Historic Roadsports, and was the only runner in my class which was a tad disappointing. Having towed the car on an open trailer and with scrutineering at 0730 giving me little time to clean it up I have never presented a dirtier car for inspection, sorry for that!
First out Saturday morning meant we had to contend with some remaining damp patches, but it wasn't too bad. In our first race, Saturday lunchtime, I got outdragged off the line by the 2 Marcos that I had pipped in quali. Sadly there was a shunt on Lap 1 at the Gooseneck, I believe a Lotus 7 span and was collected by an Elan, both drivers ok, but heavy damage to both cars, huge shame. Initially a safety car was deployed, which I felt was a bit odd, having seen the state and mid-track position of the wreckage, half a lap later it was predictably red-flagged ... now that meant that a lap had been completed before the red flag, so the 2 Marcos gridded up ahead of me for the restart! At the restart I then got outdragged by the Lenham Spridget, going very well this weekend. All of this set up a lovely enjoyable 4 car dice which went on for several laps, and I'm pleased to report that I led the 4 of us when the chequered flag came out. Great fun, and some good GoPro footage! Only one of the Marcos managed to outdrag me off Sunday's start, but despite following him, often at no more than a yard or 2 for lap after lap, I'd played my jokers on Saturday and he knew where I'd try to pass, so he was able to hold me back. Sensing a small degree of (entirely unwarranted!) frustration building in me, and not wanting any incidents, I backed off for last couple of laps and let him even the score! Two great clean, races, with good mates in cars with different performance characteristics, very good fun! Lovely circuit, and a super atmosphere to the weekend. It had been 6 years since I last raced at Cadwell, it won't be so long until the next time. |

James, a great result in adversity! |

Very enjoyable weekend's racing, made it home very late Sunday after immersing myself in the joys of historic racing at a wonderful circuit. Now prepping for Croft!
Great pics Gary, makes my own feeble efforts look somewhat pathetic but at least they are my mine! |
