Max had the upper hand but not by a significant margin, certainly they looked even closer in the first few races together this year. Both clearly look like they have strong futures in the sport, but one may get there quicker than the other! |

Even though Nico outqualified him and the team themselves said the dodgy call for tyres cost him a probable podium. I agree Perez made the most of the opportunity that came his way but he hardly hammered Nico when you look at the full picture.

One does better in certain conditions than the other, one likes certain tracks more than the other. As long as the car is upto it they are a very useful pairing. |

Sainz delivered again last Sunday. The perfect bounce back from a bounce off the Champions wall!
Let's see how he fares in Baku the first track for a while where all the drivers will be learning it for the first time. |

...went on a stag do last year with a engineer who's been in the game a while, and he said his favourite driver he's worked with was by far Carlos - very very fast, intelligent and a top guy to get along with for the whole team.
...he wasn't quite so glowing about Kvyat. |

I want to see him in a top team next year but would Ferrari be the right move with all its politicking and Vetted installed as deface no.1? |

Well, it looks like that question has now been answered with STR confirming him for 2017. Maybe 2018?

This is essentially similar to what they needed to do with Max without the automatic promotion to A-Team part sign him up so that they will get paid a lot of money if someone wants to sign him!

From both STR/RB and Sainz logical move.

Will they get the same spec engines & development as the Tag Heuer branded mother ship, or are STR going to be using sun dials? |

Man I'd forgotten how bad Dutch fanboys are.
I remember when Jos was driving and how apparently world class he was and how Robert Doornbos was a future WDC. lol. The jury is still very much out on both Max and Carlos. We're now seeing Max up against the more established Ricciardo and pretty much all the time they've been on the track together, lap for lap, Daniel has been quicker. I don't expect much to change for the rest of the season. |

As for Carlos, it looks like he could be a solid option for a top team in the Couthard/Massa/Webber mould but has yet to show any true super star quality.
Max probably just had the edge on him and those moments that make people stand up and take notice. Bourdais was similarly quite evenly matched with Vettel in 2008, but had more bad luck and the much younger Vettel got the big breaks. He probably needs to make a break from Torro Rosso for 2017 if he is to stay the course in F1 as it is a team always looking to bring new drivers in. Buemi, Algersuari and Vergne were all decent peddlers but ultimately had to make way. |

Sainz, like Max is a top drawer driver and both are quite obviously future WDC material. Both drivers showed it is spades again yesterday. |

Buemi yes.
He's no candidate for the 2nd STR seat? |

It would make no sense if STR is supposed to develop talent for RBR. He can help with development from the simulator. RBR's trouble right now is that they don't have a stand-out junior driver, though maybe Gasly can get there by the end of the season.

RB seem a bit stuck for drivers for a change. Might make them think about the driver policies a bit harder. |

Not following junior classes but understand they have no driver who is ready for F1 so that's why I suggested Buemi.
