The WEC deal is no guarantee next season will be any better. The grid this year and the list of those testing was frankly embarrassing.

The WEC deal is an act of desperation surely and very much an unknown. If all was rosy they wouldn't take such a gamble

@Formulahistory what is the point of updating that provisional entry list, when it's not even provisional?! Odds are thin, it's not looking good for a series when 8 drivers turn up for post season test. @Mekola, Comtec tried and failed to sell up.

@chunterer, GP2/3 could work season for more, but as you can probably see, at least three GP2 teams are considering future, or already pulled out. GP3?! we'll see if could reach magic number of 7 teams. No rosie on other side as well. |

looking at this on the flipside and away from formulahistorys fantasy lineups, in the context of the health of other similar series it only has slightly worse prospects for next season?

Problem is lack of critical mass. Day two Barcelona downnto 8 cars and some silly deals to get that I think

The word has been spread. It didn't look great this season, with little interestn from big boys in F1, WEC, GT... unless you have money to get promoted. It looks bad for next year. Wish them well tho, although I suspect there will be on e or two teams pullng out before March.

Regalia will drive for Durango and RP in the next tests.
It seems they heard me that Facu should be in the series. |

Precisely, Formula V8 3.5 TWPC is in risk to be folded in 2017. The predictions have no sense in a series with less cars than in 2016, even if I'd reduce the prediction form to top 5 of each race.

Apparently, according to this brazilian site, Pietro Fittipaldi will drive for Lotus next season.
In a nutshell, it basically says that Pietro Fittipaldi will re-edit the partnership with Lotus that once had his grandpa, Emerson Fittipaldi, racing for the team 45 years ago. Also, it mentions that although the contract is already signed, the official announcement will only be made in january. |

Interestingly Peter Mills of Autosport paints a slightly rosier picture of grid prospects:

Grid prospects are one thing, the question of the calibre of the field for a series like this is surely equally if not more important for future years?

I'm skeptical. Would top teams like Fortec and Lotus go with such useless drivers if there was more interest in the series?

Done alright testing a Force India?
He's far from rubbish but the series will obv need a handful of decent pedallers (regardless of experience) to give it any chance of surviving another year. Hey, just a thought but I wonder if any former single seater drivers from the LMP2/3 ranks might fancy doing 2 events on the same weekend? |

I think it shows how easy it is for an incompetent super-rich playboy to drive an F1 car fast when the motor/fuel is turned up and no need to manage tyre life
