Guerreri now in, let's hope he can manage to do the full season. Certainly the series seems to making the best of a bad situation

Reminding me of the dodgy behind- closed doors deals SRO were doing in the dying days of GT1.

The WTCC desperately needed cars. I don't think it impossible that they got some "support" from the organisers to run the cars in this season - but only enough for run the cars.

16 cars was the minimum requirement, and usually there'd only be about 3/4s of that requirement with a few weeks to go before each season, at which point SRO stepped in and funded the remaining entries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_F...d_Championship You can see from the final season when it all fell apart. Essentially the "Team Russia" and "Team China" entries weren't genuine entries. |

All of those 16 don't need to be competitive, so the "extra" entries will be run to the bare-minimum. |

Not just GT1, that sort of thing happened in the old SuperTouring ETCC, before S2000 manufacturer entries came in. I know of at least one team that got under-the-table 'start money', and I'm sure they weren't the only ones.
