View Poll Results: Where will the WEC US round 2017 be held?
Circuit of the Americas (early September? with PCW?) | 17 | 36.96%
Indy - plenty of history and, more importantly, plenty of run off | 6 | 13.04%
Montreal - close enough to the US border and would serve US N-E audience very well | 8 | 17.39%
Road America - the only right choice but lots of 'upgrading' to do to please the FIA blue blazers | 7 | 15.22%
no US (or Canadian) round at all - the WEC doesn't need a race there anyway... | 6 | 13.04%
somewhere else in North or South America (Brazil???) | 2 | 4.35%

Comms team for WEC stream: Martin Haven, Toby Moody, Allan McNish and some help from Graham Goodwin, with Louise Beckett in the pitlane.

I actually like the DC racing liveries. Much better than bringing another bland corporate design.

Wow, that's a step back in quality then. Nothing against good pundits such as McNish but losing Hindy as the stream commentator sucks.

It does, but Martin Haven moving in full time is excellent. I'm sure we'll hear Hindy in other places, but Haven is good too. They both like soap boxes as well, which is fun. I like a good Hindy and Haven rant.

Haven's race awareness is absolutely terrible. "Oh HERE'S A PASS FOR THE LEAD" (reality: battle for 3-4th) So I'm not looking forward to him constantly mixing things up. Adding McNish is a plus, but sad to see Hindy move back to radio.

No complaints here, I think Martin Haven is a great one to have aboard.

Where will Paul Truswell be situated?
I think I will go for that commentary. |

GTE has great potential this year. I hope the FIA takes a page from IMSA and figures out how to BoP them the right way. I will be cheering for Porsche and Ford.
LMP1 is going to be a good mano A mano battle. I will be cheering for Porsche. I dont care about LMP2, I'll pretend they dont even exist and hide them on the live timing. |

Weather for the Prologue doesn't look great right now. Temps might be in the 60s, but it'll come with a likely hood of rain both days.

At the risk of sounding like a heretic, I wasn’t very impressed with RLM WEC coverage at times last year. They just got some very obvious things wrongs, so I’m hoping that Hindy’s return to the booth improves things.

I noticed the same thing. Not everyone is perfect and mistakes are going to be made, but some of the consistent things were the calling of wrong car name and even class, to me were noticeable. It was mostly in GTE AM vs PRO. I think the classes being separate might be a cause for this. The cars look so much alike they're only distinguishable by their colored number plate. It'll be worse this year since they'll have the 2016 updates on the AM class as well.

Pretty disapointing entry list for 2017. It seems to shrink year on year. 28 cars?

It'll be at 30 next year just with BMW entering GTE and then at least 32 with two more lmp1 cars. That's if SMP and Ginetta do only one a piece. But who knows if anyone gets left out or drops out.

I don't know. I never felt like alms had a huge problem with grid numbers. But it did feature classes that helped bump the total. The point is that the new cars are going to be expensive the first year, so that's why you see so many Oreca's in p2 and not much else. P1 obviously was going to take a hit with Audi leaving. But they will be replaced (in numbers at least) next year. And BMW is a sure thing. The p2 class I don't know about. But with cars being a year older I think more teams will have their funds and choice together. Now the waiting game.

28 cars across only 3 different car types for races in China and Bahrain is fine. I think people have a skewed idea of how big world championship car counts have historically been.
