It’s interesting that Bright has only leased his REC to MSR for two years. Does he intend comeback as team owner.?
Or have the value of REC’S suddenly increased by so much MSR couldn’t afford to buy it......... |

Depending on the lease deal, he may receive the REC based income, and be confident he is not at risk of having to pay fines for lack of attendance. He doesn't have to seek the sponsors it seems as that will be Hazelwoods existing backers. He may be hoping the REC market will be more of a sellers market in two years. MSR might have said they wanted to lease for 2 years with intention to purchase in 2 years as they can't afford the outlay right now, after I would expect splashing on an increase in staff to run a Tier1 effort?

Not usually, the REC lease is probably for the value of the VASC REC income, with tyres & catering recharged to 23RED. The vslue of the asset likely won’t move in that time.. it’s probably in the Jobri books in the $1.2m+ region. The revenue return isn’t likely to reduce this, especially now a driving wage is gone...

As we've seen in the past, it's best to keep the REC in service.
He might want to offload it, but at the risk of parking it, it's better to just lease it out to an entity that is prepared to utilise it, until a sale comes to fruition. |

Surprised MSR didn't buy it outright. Unless Mr. Bright wants to become the team's codriver and using the lease as leverage for it.
