Mmm, experience on ice a week or so ago was ‘interesting’! I’m not sure (but am hoping) that when driving at normal speed the traction control works both ways, if you understand my meaning, but at low speed, when I lifted off on sheet ice the back wheels just locked...... Need to do a bit of research!

Hear, hear!! I thought it was just me who hates 'train station'. Even worse was hearing a TV reporter recently refer to the 'train tracks' rather than railway lines. The ultimate prize, though, goes to the BBC London hews reader who called the M11 'the eleven route'. |

Season’s greetings to all Historic Tenthers.
I’ve had a break this year due to other commitments, but have been lurking on here and should be back on track next year. Also will hopefully get Daniel’s Mexico out in the HSCC Escort race, so it looks like 2018 will be a blue oval one. Wishing everyone a healthy & happy New Year. |

Managed to squeeze in one last motorsport event for the year today - Croft Circuit hosted a local auto club's 'Christmas Stages Rally'. It's an annual event and attracts quite a decent crowd.
I think they must have been surprised by the size of the crowd because when I arrived cars were parked all over the place on the local approach roads - which probably will have been 'noted' by the locals who are against the circuit. So just drove straight in and was told they'd had to open the field parking area which was still covered in snow and slush - with the warning that the circuit 4x4's would tow me out at the end. Not needed in my case but there were plenty who had to avail themselves of the tractor! Anyway, mainly newish stuff competing but a good smattering of Escorts so one final motorsport pic from me for 2017. Happy New Year everyone! |

Thanks Gary. Happy New Year. Btw. Gary does a lot of local photography so for pictures of Yorkshire in various shades of winter or summer, look for him on Twitter.

Talking of photos, I was privileged to spend the afternoon looking through a few of Stanley Sears (Jack’s father) photo albums. Stanley even hillclimbed his V12 Phantom 3 Saloon, and his Bentley Continental! Loads of pics of his cars at Brighton Speed Trials as well. Also watched some 50-60yr old cine films, all priceless archive stuff......

Absolutely, and fortunately they are in good hands. A question Joe may be able to answer- One film showed the Willment Cortinas at Brands along with some Lotus (Team Lotus?) versions. I’m guessing the (white with red stripe) Willment cars were GTs?
