Would the FIA/ACO Class mclaren as a small car manufacturer allowing them to fit in the lower road car production limit? Because the Senna is only a single 500 car run.... I'd think if they do a GTE any time soon it'll be based off the 720s, likely going down the Ferrari route of being able to convert from GT3 to GTE... if that's possible on the 720s... Also, aren't they supposedly more interested in global LMP1 future specs? |

BMW was forced to redesign the M8 after one manufacturer objected to its initial plans:
http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/m...-gte-redesign/ So they are now 5 months behind and are asking for help at Daytona via BOP |

Risi Competizione has announced that it will be entering the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hours in the GTE Am class, with a Ferrari 488 GTE.
The programme is going to be run with Ben Keating and Keating Motorsports. Will this be the only entry of Risi or will they have another car in GTE Pro? http://www.dailysportscar.com/2018/0...ans-entry.html |

it all depends on the quality of the bronze driver... at Daytona they weren't the fastest of bronze

If the Super GT guys don't want to run in DTM and they say ok, we're going to GTE, I think it's a good idea. Instead of missing Mercedes, Porsche's interest might make them enter. Then Super GT can drop the current ugly cars and either go back to something like before or maybe follow suit with a 'Super' GTE

I'd like to know how they came to this understanding given that Toyota and Nissan(ESPECIALLY Nissan) have said they'd be there if DTM would just switch to the 2 liter turbos. What have they heard to make them doubt this? |

It's just another step forward.... class A concept has always been a struggle.... recall late 2010 when party were close to finalize specs for japanese, european and american DTM style series worldwide.
BTW after mercedes withdraw I can see DTM survive only if bmw and audi agree to extend to 8 cars. |

If that happens, I hope they open up the GTE cars a little so they can be around the speed of the outgoing DTM's.

***Sportscar365 understands that an announcement on a new GTE manufacturer could be imminent. It’s unclear if that manufacturer’s participation could extend into the WeatherTech Championship or be focused entirely on the FIA World Endurance Championship, at least initially.

Three possibilities going around; Lamborghini, McLaren and Toyota.
