Got a bigger picture GTR? Seems a bit too small for the PC screen.
Saw something on Facebook that they're predicting Nissan will be out. And honestly, it's not a surprise after all the effort, time and money for only a few race wins at Winton and the occasional pole compared to efforts by the former marques of Volvo and Erebus-Mercedes. |

Its a shame to lose a manufacturer but considering what the Kellys have done (or rather not done) with Nissan its not necessarily unexpected. I'm surprised they havent pulled the pin earlier or switched teams. I was just thinking the other day of what GRM could've achieved with the Japanese marque after they split with Volvo considering the success they had in such a short time compared to the Nissan/Kelly tie up.

Interesting not even the possibly of fielding a GT-R had them considering staying involved for longer.
Looks like another reason why the current series formula is in need of a re-jig. |

Going alone makes no sense at all if they cant make the current factory supported effort work. Not to mention they'll have to replace the Nissan money which I believe has gotten smaller year by year but still is a considerable sum.

When Volvo went, Nissan should have given two cars to GRM. With the Nissan money aren't KR at similar pace too when they hadn't? |

sad, but really no need for nissan to keep racing in this series. No real car to race in the category in Australia

What benefit do we have by continuing to run this as a development category? From what I can see, all it does is cost teams money and scare of manufacturers.

The Mustang really piqued Nissans' interest.

It made sense when Nissan were trying to sell the altima, but now they have no car their sports cars dont sell in significant numbers (in Australia) to fund the cost. (yearly sales are less than the monthly sale of the mustang) |

That said either the Z or the GTR would appear to be a pretty good fit. To my mind the Z is better but it is an old chassis now. So is the GTR come to that. |

IMO, can only see the Kelly's running as a privateer Nissan team for only a short time in the future before either going back to Holden or joining Ford. Spending heaps of money out of their own pocket developing a car without customer teams nor factory support is going to be a financial nightmare.

They have a customer team in MWM, that will go a ways to amortise the ongoing costs, and help churn through obsolete parts.

Would love to see how the Kelly Gang would have fared if they continued with Holdens over the 5 year period. They definitely underachieved driving the ricers.

Nissan themselves may not have a sedan anymore but they do have their Infiniti sub-brand which has a couple of sedans on sale in Australia (including the twin-turbo V6 Q50 Red Sport) and sales figures which could do with a serious boost.

I don't buy that these cars with zero relevancy to their road going counterparts in engine and platform does anything for sales.
