This rules are horrible
fixed downforce and drag, fixed weight distribution, fixed power, spec ecu Whan can you even do as a team to get a pace advantage if everything is fixed |

Given where the spec ecu is mentioned in the presentation is it possible that they really mean "spec hybrid control unit"?

I wonder if the 980kg is the weight including the driver or not. It's 878kg for LMP1H without the driver and fuel right now.

They will work at least on petrol consumption (free engine architecture), tires, use of mobile aero elements.

Also, in the narrated video they showed 3:20 target lap time (means fast race lap as usual) was mentioned.

They aim 3'20'' per lap instead of 3'30'' as a limit.

Did someone get what exactly the plan is for the hydrogen cars? It was hard to understand the English translation in the video for me, it's been too quiet compared to the French.
Edit: I listened again and I think the plan is to have a Hydrogen Category for 2024. Last edited by tomerswayler; 15 Jun 2018 at 09:45. |

All right now, let's not forget that this is the first draft of the rules and there will almost certainly be changes before they're completely finalzied. I for one find it highly unlikely that a spec eCU will make it into the final rulebook, just to name one thing.

That said, the quote says seven manufacturers "and part makers." For all we know that means only one manufacturer is interested. Last edited by FormulaFox; 15 Jun 2018 at 10:56. |

Does this cannibalize the GTE class? Will that become more customer car focused in the future? Or even scrapped for GT3?

If DPi has taught us anything, it's that these things matter. Based on everything I'm seeing, there is still plenty of room to work with for an interested manufacturer. In a few months we'll see if any of them really are interested. This isn't the first time efficiency of the engines has been regulated, either. One of the most beloved classes in history was built around engine efficiency. |

What about LMP2 will the rules stay as they are? The will obviously have to be slowed down, or not?

This is the opposite. If the efficiency wasn't regulated in these regs the F1 ICEs would be a shoo-in with their 50% thermal efficiency at wide-open throttle, AFAIK no other racing engines come even close. |

Pretty much same things as in the slide screencaps posted previously, a few more things about ERS supply and clearer wording. |
