As to grids mixing Grp1 and 1,5, knowing how many good 1,5 you have and bearing in mind that the great majority is targeting an overall win… |

Mike. Yes goodwood is post historic tyres. The MRL Avons are for the Groups 2 and A cars unless something has changed. Tony Dron cars run on Post Historics although I know there were thoughts of changing
Yes Gerard we did look at various slicks but nothing was avaialble when I ran the Capri. Incidentally.i understand my old Capri has re surfaced. |

So for my presence here you can only blame you! Had a chat with Mike previously and Ric Wood more recently. From my understanding Dunlop post historic are good but narrow compared to 205/60. I tried to make understand to a young man here that we could - may be- consider the outside diameter only, leading to a huge choice of tires in 15" using 577 mm for a 205 as a benchmark. My French must be as my English, too bad to be understood! It wouldn't be legally correct to move from 13" to 15" but remains to organiser's decision. So your ex-Capri is not ? |

Latest from HSCC on their proposed Ford Escort races. I’ve just taken a screen dump, so if you want the regulations, no doubt they’ll be on the website....

Due to essential track maintenance, Silverstone has canned the MG Car Club MG Live event in June. The club is seeking alternatives.

Holy sugar, that’s a big ‘can’!!! Have to feel for MGCC, and of course those that included the event in their season plans. Will be interesting to learn what the ‘essential maintenance’ consists of. My completely uninformed guess is that maybe the track surface needs relaying in places before the GP?

According to the story on the Autosport website the resurfacing is required for the FIM to grant the circuit a license to hold the Moto GP in August . The resurfacing is being carried out in June and will also affect the 750 MC meeting on June 22/23 .

Looks like mid June is the only slot they can find without having to cancel the GP, Classic, Brit GT or Blancpain meeting! So poor MGCC and 750MC have to suffer, being further down the food chain.
If the resurfacing done last year had been up to scratch, then of course none of this would be necessary...... Press release from MGCC here.... https://www.mgcc.co.uk/mglive-loses-...ne-venue-date/ Last edited by Mike Bell; 9 Mar 2019 at 10:12. |

As you say, being lower down the foodchain the MGCC and 750MC suffer. As to alternatives, it would be interesting to see what they do. Among the current circuits I can only think of Oulton Park or Brands Hatch being able to accommodate this type of event. Angelsey might be a good circuit but for folks coming from Europe and there are generally quite a number, it would probably be a bit too far. The distance might preclude Oulton Park too.

According to the Silverstone statement it says that they hope to help the clubs find dates later in the year . One minor problem is fitting in with the clubs existing dates !

The non-racing stuff at MG Live is pretty huge, from memory, which is why Sillystone worked. Not sure which of the other circuits will be able to cope, and at the preferred time of year.......
My interpretation of the MGCC release is that they are looking elsewhere! |

No doubt quite a few people will have pre-booked accommodation (and some travel) on a non-refundable basis. Great shame for all those involved.

I understand that one of the series planned for MG Live have already found an alternative meeting (whether this was intended as a replacement or just an additional event is not clear). Had an email from Equipe Classic Racing regarding two 40-minute pit stop races at the Spa Summer Classic meeting. I don't know if it is planned for both the GTS and Pre '63 series to have separate races, as per MG Live, or to have combined grids. Will let you know if I hear any more information.

Latest from CMMC- March update
"My apologies for what must seem a lack of communication recently but the last few weeks has been a challenging time for me. Race Retro was hectic to say the least but well worth having a stand. We were able to release the Pre ’64 Series to the public and it was received well with extremely good feedback. Soon after I decided to take some time off to recharge my batteries ready for the season ahead. Unfortunately it did not go to plan! During my first few days in Spain I struggled to get good internet connection which in turn kept ‘dropping’. Very frustrating and time consuming. Then on top of that, towards the end of my stay there, I developed a cough which became worse after my long flight to Florida. It is only now have I been really able to get back to motorsport activity. Our Pre ’64 Series I have been asked by several people how do they go about registering for the Series. First you have to be CMMC so just go to https://www.cmmotorsportclub.com/membership), download a form and where it states car details just add ‘I want to register for the Pre ’64 Series’, it’s as simple as that! We had thought about making a charge because we have to pay for trophies where the races are not part of CMMC organised Race Meetings but that may not now be necessary as we are very hopeful of having a sponsor. Our first race is just 4 weeks away (April 20th) and part of the AMOC 50’s/Innes Ireland Trophy race at Donington. To get an entry form please go to: https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/d1949...a86c72579f.pdf We need good support for this first race. The Racing Ahead Saturday April 6th - Silverstone (National) We have 2 x 15 minute races for our 3 ‘southern’ Series. However any CMMC member who has a suitable tin top or saloon who would like to join in they can come on board in the ‘invitation’ class. The cost is just £310 but you will have to be quick. Just drop me an e-mail with short details of your car and I will pass it on to the respective Series Co-ordinator who will be back in touch with you. Saturday April 27th/Sunday April 28th – Brands Hatch (Indy) Again we have races for our 3 Southern Series over the two days at the MG Car Club Race Meeting. Saturday (27th) sees a 30 minute race for the Tin Tops whilst Sunday (28th) the usual 2 x 15 mins for Super Saloons/Intermarque. If any CMMC member has a suitable car we would be delighted to see them in the Ã*nvitation’ class. Saturday May 25th/Sunday May 26th – Snetterton (300). We have combined with the BRSCC to be able to give you suitable races over the weekend. The 3 Southern Series have their races on the Sunday but we also hope to have races for our Pre ’64 Series and CMMC Classic Challenge on the Saturday whilst on the Sunday we hope to have the CMMC Modern Challenge together with a Sports Car v Saloon Challenge More information to follow shortly. Sunday June 16th will see our ever popular Mallory Park Classic and Modern Motorsport Festival. Looking ahead to Cadwell Park on Sunday July 28th there will races to suit any kind of closed wheeled car with a special race (with prize money!) aptly called ‘King of Cadwell’ to see who is the fastest round Cadwell – Watch this space!!" |

And some news from AMOCR...
"Following the announcement of the return of the Innes Ireland Cup for Pre ’66 cars to the 2019 AMOC Racing programme, much positive interest has been received. AMOC Racing is pleased to announce the expansion of the series with its own stand-alone race at the AMOC Brands Hatch round on Saturday 8th June, and a round at AMOC Oulton Park on July 6th. In light of the loss of Silverstone’s MG Live! event in June, the 30 minute race for under 3 litre Pre ’66 GT and Touring Cars on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit will offer an alternative for those looking to replace their lost racing activity in June. At other events, the race will share the grid with the Jack Fairman Cup for 1950s cars. Priced competitively at £365 for 30 minutes, entries are open now for the first event on Saturday 20th April at Donington Park and Brands Hatch on Saturday 8th June." Best regards Duncan Wiltshire Race Director |
