I don't think a car is defined by its chassis. Otherwise the DeltaWing is an Aston Martin. The last Pescarolo is an Aston Martin. The Caddy had a rework of lights, rims, wheel covers, cooling and intakes. I think that's enough to call it a Caddy.
They didn't just take a Dallara and put a sticker on it. Which is, literally, what happened with the ORECA LMP2. Which is explicitly stated what was not allowed to happen as well. |

Mentioned in the Toyota thread, but I'll post it here since it's class-wide.
Success Handicaps issued after Silverstone. Goal is to increase Toyota lap times by 1.4 and 1.0 seconds for the 7 and 8 respectively. The best part is the 3rd place Rebellion doesn't count, so the leading Ginetta, which finished 5 laps down, sees an increase of .6666666667 and 2/3rds repeating seconds per lap. Should put 'em right on the Toyota gearbox throughout the race . The more-troubled Ginetta receives zero adjustments on account of having a bad race. Ginetta will run one car at 833kg and the other at 867kg. "How's the other car doing on the inters?" "Means nothing to us as they're 34kg heavier." |

Because we reward mediocrity here in the WEC, no one should be too much better than the others as it is not fair. Yes, you've spent millions on the promise of winning and you support the series but you should not expect to win sir. And those of you who haven't won, well you should try harder but last place tried so he shall win next time. Well may be not win but closer.

If you follow Super GT, it's quite alike. Works pretty good there but obviously there's no hybrids. I don't like it in the wec but if it helps competition I guess it's not an all the way bad thing.

It is at least public and easier to understand without we thinks and maybes in the sentence. I think ballast would be better but if they can tweak the system more efficiently maybe that's better long run than a heavier car that chews up tires.

Apparently the ballast is maxed out for Toyota. It could be a safety issue making it any heavier. At least that's my take on it after reading up on the limitations of slowing down the lmp2s.

If they want more artificial handicapping, why not initialize simple longer pit stop hold-out instead of weird convoluted formula

I quite like that idea, you get to see cars going as fast as they're able to and have a chase situation...sort of like at LM24 a few years back with Toyota chasing down the LMP2 for the overall win.

Apparently Rebellion was livery by committee this season.

It's to make it look like they have two cars on track.

I'm torn, I think either would be great on their own. I'm just not sure about the combined livery, I'm guessing better in person but the pictures aren't great. Especially head on pictures, not so great

I think it's nice. I actually preferred the white and black ones though.

In real life the plain black and white looked really very dull.... (IMO).
