2000-2001 ASTC Video
Dudes , people and Super Touring lovers, the ASTC 2000-2001 Video is out. I'm going to get the video because its ST's and the 2000-2001 provided some of the most exciting racing of the year, the closest finish I think in Aussie racing at Symmons Plains and Hendo taking the fight up to Morris. Are youn guys going to get it ?

I'm going to buy it, you probably should get it to , you can see some real racing. Great idea racer69 , 95-97 tafes would be great all those great "times" relived in your lounge room whenever you get the urge.
When I get it I tell you what it's like. |

yes, I got the video last Tuesday and it is very good. It's got all the rounds a few stories. One is where Cam is standing at the back of the Mount Cotton Wines BMW with a box full of fruit and vege. Classic. In the highlights they do miss a few bits that I would of included eg, Round 3 Morris and Hendo swapping positions 3 times in the space of 4 corners. But it's still very enjyoable.

Yes...wasn't that the race where Morris pulled into the pits, changed a tyre, had a cup of coffee, went to the toilet then jumped back in his car and came back to win the race ?
Also, inspiring television... |

Yeah, also where he passed 1st to 4th within a lap to take the lead back, looked like they all just let him past.

I must say that myself and Paul Morris were rather shocked at the ease he got back into the lead- nobody in the field made it difficult for him, almost everyone moved out of the way...
As for the first race, and many others in the series where Morris would suddenly lose race pace and drop back...well I haven't seen antics like those since the 1994 AMC... |

I think what happened was that with the extra 40kg in the BMW he would do enough to get ot the lead and then would save the tryes and not drive the car into the ground.

I've heard lots of things about the first round of the 1994 AMC at Eastern Creek, i seem to remember (i was pretty groggy watching it, weren't they on at 6:30am saterdays) The two Factory BMW 318i's battling with the old M3 of Blanchard and Phil Ward's Merc, and Alan Jones talking about it at Symmons Plains, was it like the 1982 San Marino Grand Prix, staged?
What actually happened. |

RE: EC- I think you'll find that 95% of the field led the race at one stage or another. I'm sure some people were impressed by it....
RE: Morris- you could have bolted the pantech onto the back of the BMW and it wouldn't have made a difference...until he got around to the bridge |

Have to say it sounds like a prett dumb thing to do, especially in the first race for a new series, and if i remember correctly it had quite a big build up.
On Morris, he probably could have raced the pantech and still won that day |

If you want to know how staged the races were, just look at the races towards the end of 1994 when Morris and Longhurst decided to fight (literally in the end).

Just saw it advertised for $229.95 in MotorSport Video catalogue! Obviously a misprint, but the ad also refers to the Holden vs Ford barttle in the Futue Tourers...

Supercars uses safety cars rather than collusion by competitors to determine results of races. |
