One question I never asked… Sometimes bauble is on the picture. In this case, who is the photographer…

Just out of my curiosity who is the guy wearing a red shirt sponsored by a R Brown company?

Mystery of the disappearing racing driver

Yes Gerard all my own work. The accident happened in 1996 and I was using a Zenith E with a 200 mm Zoom lens. I have recently learned the art of scanning so there should be plenty more photos from the eighties onwards. I have found some old albums with pictures taken by my brother in the seventies featuring Formula Two , Formula 5000 , Special Saloons etc and I will be scanning them soon as well.

Regarding the picture I am fairly sure that Martin walked away (remarkably) and five years later won the BARC Formula Renault championship. There was a discussion on this forum a year or two back about replacing racing harnesses after a shunt. This picture suggests it's a good idea....

I'd have thought our East Midlands correspondants, especially GrantP would have recognised circuit No. 4, but it is an unusual view of the "new" infield.

I'd put somebody else's money on that picture being taken from the exit of the Old Hairpin on the approach to Schwantz Curve, just after Starkey's Bridge. The top of the new banking in the infield give quite a view of large parts of the circuit.

I would think that could be it too. As you say the view on the inside lets you see plenty of the track, although I last was on the infield in 2008 so don’t know what the view from the new infield is like now. I assume it’s as good as before though?

I don't think the hill is that big, but for a flat area it must be big

If you want to know what "and a half" means in historic, just compare the Dolly seen in the #2644 with any other one pictured at GW. One is Grp1, the others are Grp1,5! And this time Bob is not your uncle!
