More for the guests and topics than the hosts (which I have no issues with, the casualness is appealing to some) |

I have only watched a bit of it but as usual everyone is saying change is needed with no specific reasons except it costs money to race and no specific ideas of what the change should be. Hot air is cheap.
Why do people who participate in these things always sit in a small room that causes the audio to be nearly impossible to listen to. I will watch the rest when I have more patience to listen to Adderton talking, I just couldn't understand half of what he is saying because the sound is so bad. |

Watch again and watch the previous cost cutting feature https://www.enforcerandthedude.com/v...-cost-cutting/ They have talked about reducing engine and component costs, highlighting some of the parts on MARC cars that could show the way. They talked about the cost of uprights again. RD talked about getting the Gen3 car cost down to 300k and that his design team have been working on this. Also said paddle shift would reduce engine costs. The next step is up to Supercars. |

I haven't watched all of it yet as I had to give up when Aderton was talking due to the audio being nearly impossible to listen to. I will use some headphones and see if that nakes it any better. New uprights is a band aid and reducing engine costs without specifics gets into the realm of no hard planning & just wishful thinking. A cost cap is a very good move as long as it covers everything and no exceptions and definitely includes salaries for all team member from the TP to the driver and everyone else. That only leaves the future and what will replace the cars being used at the moment which of course is only a minor detail.

Control uprights isn't a bandaid when it basically freezes 80% of development costs.

Yes it is, the cars raced now have something between a very limited and no fuuture so why bother. If the class had a solid 10 year future then it might just be something to pursue but that is not going to happen unless they find another promoter to fund it.

OK I'll bite, tell us why that would be a good idea and also why it would be a bad one and it has been suggested before BTW. The one thing that occurs to me is that when the audience who knew and bought these cars diminishes that automatically puts an end of life clause into the deal and the Media do not like diminishing returns. The media is all important as live audiences at tracks would hardly pay the fuel bill for the race cars and transporters once the overheads are paid for.
