I don't think that that is what the poster meant or wrote. It sounds as if it was crabbing and that he, therefore, had to compensate for that. |

My comments still apply No top team would send a car into the next race crabbing - not a chance and the likelihood of it fixing itself seems slim

Props to Crees for finishing the race after those hits! Shame for Hand who was on the verge of the top ten, One of the Infinitis seems to spear in at the end without really slowing down. |

If this incident had been at a corner you would have to say that Chilton was nowhere near alongside and should have backed out of it. However, on a straight and at the start of a race I have a lot less sympathy.
Both the Halfords Honda (believe it was Rowbottom) and whoever else was alongside him contributed to this incident by failing to accept they had both made poor starts and it might be better to cede a position or two than to end up in the wall. |

I don't see what Chilton did wrong either, he was just caught in the middle. I don't know where else he could go
I think it was just a combination of many cars fighting for the same piece of tarmac and some were keen to make a great start. I've seen worse moves by drivers tbh |

so after 2 rounds does Turkington - Hill have potential to become the new Turkington - Jordan battle ? they are both on equal points for now just 2 points behind Sutton
Bobby T makes Taylor Swift look like rubbish , just as Cook does to Plato or Tingram to Chilton JST shapes up to be between Bobby T and Gamble Last edited by porsche962fan; 17 May 2022 at 20:12. |

If Hill can iron out the small mistakes then yes definitely. Both him and Turkington are on level points but you’d say Hill has been the one more in view of the tv cameras etc whilst Turks has been plodding away showing his experience. |

So only two race weekends in 2013....then nothing in 2014 or most of 2015, before the final round of 2015 at Brands GP in the Audi S3 taking over from Nic Hamilton. So his first full season was 2016 in the Team Hard Avenisis - and other than stepping down mid-season in 2018 he has been in the series solidly since then. So this year is his 6th full season. All the others mentioned (except Lloyd who you've highlighted) have been in it more or less full time - I think Ollie took a year out in Ginetta G55 one year. |

Surprised he's been in it as long as he has, think I saw something along the lines that he's done the 10th most races of any BTCC driver. |

Wonder how long Ollie will go on for? Certainly he's been a great stalwart of the championship. Most starts doesn't mean much considering how many races there are in a season now. But it does show what a great loyal servant Ollie has been for the series, as well as a fine racing driver

If I'm not wrong, Ollie Jackson isn't really a professional racing driver in a sense that he has his day job, which means BTCC is just a hobby for him. As long as he can finance his starts and he enjoys being there, he will be.
His is not a particularly illustrious career but he had some better seasons, especially 2020 was a good year for him. |

You have to wonder how long Ollie will continue financing running in the back half of the grid. His 2020 season gave some good results with 2 wins and a further podium, but those results look a bit like an anomaly now - we know that Focus is a quick car.

I've spent some time in that side of the Motorbase garage this season and Ollie and his family clearly enjoy their race weekends and supporting him. Really nice family. |

A much more accurate list is here: https://www.touringcars.net/database...hp?series=BTCC Noting that the data is only from 1983 to present, but due to the races per season in the old days, the 'most starts' section is valid. There are only 280 races pre-1983. |

Usually it's down to luck whether you complete the first lap. But anyway moving on

A bit of smart driving goes a long way too but, yes, no such thing as a successful first lap without a bit of luck.
