I confess that I didn't bother to open the link, but I assume that this is about Ho Pin Tung...
Funny, because he used to be a Dutchman (I have photos of him as part of Team Holland at the FF Festival a couple of years back) Obviously a Chinese kid driving an F1 car was going to get more publicity |

I think Williams, like any other team, adopts some procedures in a driver's first test, to ensure a safer experience. For example: the car is set with a higher downforce than normal, they also adjust the rev limiter to change gears at 17k rpm instead of 19k. During all times, he will have 50 or 60kg of gas in the tank, and will also be fitted with worn tires. |

But, I think Ho-Pin Tung was deserve to had test with BMW powered WilliamsF1. This kid win Formula BMW Asian in dominan way. http://www.hopintung.com/eng/htmldocs/startup.html And, after the test, this kid was disappointed. "I was a bit disappointed that it was already over! I wanted more!" http://www.motorsport.com/news/artic...D=143241&FS=F1 |

He was born and raised in Holland and before he entered Formula BMW Asia he had never been to China, he's just using his Chinese background becuase he thinks he'l have a better chance coming into F1 that way than as a Dutch driver.
http://www.racingonline.nl/driverspa...ung/index.html check out the place of birth: Velp(near Arnhem) and his favorite driver: Jos Verstappen. He raced in Dutch Formula Ford in 2001 after winning the "Talent First" competition of the Dutch Autosport Fedaration (KNAF), in 2002 he had no sponsors and could'nt race, so he decided to be Chinese and join the Formula BMW Asia. Chinese driver in the Williams-BMW contender? Why not? At least, as test driver.
The director of the Shanghai F-1 Circuit Yu Zhifei has unveiled that he will call on the BMW Williams team in Britain this February and is expected to negotiate for Chinese-Dutch Dong Hebin's future benefit. Who is Dong Hebin? Didn't explained. But he had a trial race with BMW Williams last December. So, I think he was Ho Pin Tung. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/20...nt_1281084.htm |

Dong Hebin sounds like American way of writing Tung Ho Pin like Mao Tse Tung is called Mao Zedong in America

actually the differences are mandarin (mainland china + taiwan) and cantonese (hong kong + southern china) interpretations of the name.
dong hebin is mandarin, and tung hopin is cantonese |

ok thanks for that. I presume because Cantonese is mostly used by Anglo-Chinese this is why we tend to use that sort of interpretation in UK
