About costs...
How much does a BTCC season costs? I would like an answer for a top team and for a middle grid team.
Also, How much does a testing session cost? Thanx |

Good question ascari. I'm fascinated by this topic. Does anybody make any money in motorsport? If I was a highly talented footballer, how much money would I have to pay to play for a season?! The economics seem to have been stood on their head!

This from another thread; Peter Briggs of Edenbridge says:
22 Jan 2004 16:39 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mezzanine help a lot but not enough to run 2 BTCC cars approx. £575000..........However I am still in discussion with drivers but it is very difficult this year. __________________ edenboy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posts: 39 | From: | Registered: Oct 2002 |

£575000 is for a properly run professional 2 car Independent team. To design and build new cars the budget could be in excess of £1,500,000 but budgets do vary a lot for example a 1yr old ETCC BMW costs £135000 for the same price you could probably buy 2 upgraded Production Civis plus spares basicaly you get what you pay for. How many days testing? who pays for accident damage?all these items plus many more will affect the final budget.

Peter,
Can you insure against accident damage or mechanical failure, engine replacements etc? |

You can insure for accident damage but it depends on Drivers record. Normaly it is not cost effective. Engines and mechanical problems are not insurable.

it looks like a paying driver or a driver with sponsors is more important then life itself.
