Rally Mexico Latest
Day 1 is over now and the top 10 looks like this:-
1. LOEB-ELENA Citroen Xsa A8 1h02'58"900 102.9 km/h 2. GRONHOLM-RAUTIA Peugeot 307 A8 1h03'07"300 + 00'08"40 3. SAINZ-MARTI Citroen Xsa A8 1h03'28"100 + 00'29"20 4. SOLBERG-MILLS Subaru Impr A8 1h03'33"300 + 00'34"40 5. MARTIN-PARK Ford Focus A8 1h03'42"200 + 00'43"30 6. ROVANPERA-PIETI Peugeot 307 A8 1h03'48"000 + 00'49"10 7. DUVAL-PREVOT Ford Focus A8 1h03'57"600 + 00'58"70 8. HIRVONEN-LEHTIN Subaru Impr A8 1h04'25"500 + 01'26"60 9. PANIZZI-PANIZZI Mitsubishi A8 1h04'56"200 + 01'57"30 10. VALIMAKI-HONKAN Hyundai Acc A8 1h05'57"600 + 02'58"70 That is sadly not the full story - Solberg has been given a 5 minute penelty for reciving outside assitance, he had to push the car in service and it sounds like some local's decieded to give him a hand - this is againest the rules so he ended up with the pentley. Solberg is fastest on SS5 but that penalty has destroyed any chance of a win or representative result...
Gronholm has lost about a minute on SS5 and is down in 6th. |

Yes he is, Loix would have been somewhere on 12th - 15th position.

But for that penalty Petter would have this rally in the bag. Though the odds on him finishing ahead of Hirvonen must be good.
Ford 1-2? |

Nice to see Martin close up right to Loeb! Love the WRC, just wish the coverage on TV could be a little better.

Did anyone else do the calculations on Petter's drive? If you take out the 5 minutes 40 seconds of penalties, he'd have won the rally by 2 minutes 25.3 seconds! Go Petter!!
