Time for a new Ford Mexico
Well done to Ford for winning the with a 1-2 will they bring out a Focus Mexico to celebrate it? Things retro seem to be all the rage at the moment.
I don't know of the history of the original Escort Mexico that led to that model, considering that they came so close to not even entering this years championship. Petter Solberg is pretty hot to, 5 minute penalty finshes 4th & late last year get car crunched in shakedown & wins rally, well done!! |

Indeed, well done Ford.
I reckon we're in for a classic season this year, with the Citroen's, Ford's and Subaru's all battling (have my doubts about the Pugs tho!) with each other to the final event. It'd be nice to see Ford create a ltd edition Focus to commemorate the event. |

I belive the Escort Mexico was created to celebrate the London to Mexico rally win in 1970 which was won by Hannu Mikkola in a Mk1 Escort Twin Cam.

Correct Robin. However the engine was an 1800 crossflow and not the twin cam which was considered too fragile because of the dodgy fuel found out there.
The Mk1 Mexico in road going trim has a 1600 Xflow and I have one in my garage |
