Thanks for posting and letting us know. I'm sure we all appreciate the time and effort that you put into organising us merry bunch.
Being fairly new myself I wasn't sure what would happen and I didn't want to keep pestering you.

Once again, thanks.

I've had a look at the earlier posts in this thread, but I can't find anything about camping... are there any restrictions on where you can pitch a tent at Silverstone? Ideally I'd like my home-for-the-weekend to be somewhere close to post, but presumably the use of nearby gravel traps is frowned upon?

And on the topic of tents (not sure if I'm allowed to plug products on here, but here goes), Argos have this fancy two-person tent reduced from £70 to £35. I bought one and am very imprssed by it. I've never seen a two-person tent with six support poles before, so hopefully it can take whatever the weather throws at it (hope I don't regret saying that!!) Not sure why it has a back door though... perhaps one of them is a fire-escape to keep the people at Health & Safety happy.

I didn't, but there's nothing stopping you. I suppose if it's raining it would be better to do the outside (waterproof) part first, so that it's ready to go straight onto the inside bit. And as an advance warning, I might bribe someone with bacon butties to help me put the tent up at Silverstone... it's possible to do it by yourself as I did earlier this week, but the process involves tantrums and many swear words!!

I thought this had come up already but perhaps not on this thread. The detailed planning is about to get started so I intend to talk to Britcar and Silverstone about it this year because I know that last year some people who tried to get some sleep in the usual location (adjacent to Copse runway) were disturbed by others (not marshals) who were obviously wide awake.

Great news Miss P - what about this...?

It's not a new idea (and it'll be another bit of work for myself) but an email bulletin I get from some friends in the USA has just reminded me about 'all girl' posts. Any thoughts anybody?

There'll be an 'all girl' post at Road Atlanta next weekend. The Flags and Comms guys (boys and girls) at Turn 7 will be dressing up for a charity fund raiser. Unfortunately this doesn't really work for Safety (ES/Incident) teams due to the need for overalls. I imagine the the last thing a driver would want to see upon opening their eyes after a big wreck at 4am would be a BOB in drag

What about a certain Scotsman driving a rather large MG in the 2005 event - stuck it in the gravel at Abbey during the night to be greeted by fellow countryman Garry complete with green Krusty the Clown wig - scared the crap out of him apparently. That will teach him to bin it, sorry thats not correct - it was a track rod failure or something!!!!!!.

I am not up for this all girl thing - whos going to make the tea, clean out the gazebo and hoover up the gravel at all the other posts then???.

We thought about "all girl" posts at Oulton Park back in the '90s when we finally had enough girls on the bank.

Truth be told (and I think I mentioned this to Alan yesterday) - unless some of the girls have got the "strength", then I'm sorry but you do need some guys around.

Before I get shot down in flames, I'm basing this on my own physical capability, so all you girls out there (ie younger than me with working joints and muscles) must bear that in mind.

Something to think about though.........................................

PS: Just realised we're referring to "girls". No objection!
