Looking at the MST Data, and seeing in a brief scan there dont seem to be any drivers doing more than one race, I count nearly 80 Renaults this weekend. Real shame the World Finals didnt happen, thats twice as many entries as the Ford finals

I'm talking about: 66 Patrick GOETERS MEX 67 Homero RICHARDS MEX 68 David MARTINEZ MEX They are Fran-Am runners or? However,I don't see their names on the points standings, only that Homero RICHARDS finished the Fran-Am Winter Series 6th. The rest of the field definitely comes from the European FRenault scene. |

80 cars would have put the Ford Festival in the shade. The racing was fantastic as well.

Ive got Pagenaud doing the French and Masters as well. So thats 3 guys out of 96 "entries"
25 French, 35 Brit, and 36 Masters And I know a few teams didnt even bother. Durango didnt show up, some of the Brit teams that have been in and out over the years. Im sure if it was a proper world finals you'd get 2-5 guys coming from the North American championsihps, maybe one or two from Asia, etc. Not neccessarily their teams, but they could fill seats at no-show teams like Durango, Dempsey, etc. So 100 cars, 25 per grid down to 1? |

I have to admit it Plus if you worked as 'Ronald' then you wouldn't have to bother with numbers at all

Yes, Conway can win it. Anyone can in theory, because the second and final meeting has as many points available as the first. Sadly though, the person who seems least likely to win it is the championship leader, Vitaly Petrov, who wasn't out in testing today!

...which leaves jay howard effectively 'leading' the championship.
heh. just shows what the winter series is worth really. petrov would rather do some tin-pot f3 race than win the renault winter series. budget's probably about the same, mind you... |

And the answer to the original question was: Jay Howard, who sealed the title without a podium finish at Croft. Barber won his heat and the final and Buurman the other heat; John Byrne the Last Chance.

After Jay Howard lost it on the sighting lap, should the race have been delayed while they got his car back on the track? if he wasn't in with a chance of the title would they have allowed him to race?

Sounds to me like a coincidence that it was Howard who spun and he just got lucky. Barber and Comtec winning: could be an ominous sign for 2004 ...
