Who will win the FRenault Winter Championship?
The Formula Renault UK Winter Championship starts at Donington this weekend, and finishes at Croft a week later. Running to the same format as last year, there'll be two heats per meeting, a last chance race and a final. But who will be the champion?

Its between Stoddart and Conway, if i was a betting man then i would have to put my money on Stoddart. But with 35+ entries it could be any of the guys in the poll. One thing is for sure, is that it will not be a walk in the park for any of them.
See you all at Donnington |

Oh thats a though one, but I reckon it's between Conway, Soddart, Soderberg and Spencer. But anyone of the names mention in the poll could win it, its just too close to call IMO.........

Odd things happen in the winter series. Even if I was a gambling man, I wouldn't gamble.

The results will be interesting, but not indicative, in my opinion.

Yes, Joey Foster with four 4th places!
I would say Conway, maybe Spencer but not Stoddart. I agree with Jinxxy though, would not bet and I am not sure it really means that much. I can see a lot of accidents though, especially if it's wet. |

winter serieseseses are never very meaningful but they're lots of fun anyway
i wouldn't say spencer's going to win, think this winter series will be a bit of a learning experience ready for a full assault next year? |

I said Charles Hall would win last year's Winter series and he did! This year I reckon Conway but I hope it doesn't end up with a 20 car pile up like they had a few years ago. That was messy.

yep, Hall nicked the Fran Am winter series from Ponte and Lloyd. Not sure what's happened to him (Hall) this year.
Incidentally, I heard that Ponte's team [EuroRacing or something] have been "done" at the start of this year for running dodgy fuel? Anyone confirm this? That might explain the straight line advantage we talked about them having in the winter series!! Back to topic, I don't think Susie will win either. Unless a new team get some great setups straight away - or unless they borrow some of Ponte's fuel - it will be difficult to see Mike Conway in the Fortec car losing. |

Hmmmm, I remember seeing that glum look on your face Jinxxy. Still, the sunshine made it a bit more bearable didn't it?
Last year it was Robert Bell who won the Winter Series from Conway, in the wet, at Brands. I seem to remember it was quite exciting. Hoping for more of that this year. Bear in mind tha if it's wet, we might see a showing from Di Resta too. |

Apparently, Conway was half a second quicker than anyone else, with the Dutch Fortec driver second, then Susie Stoddart, then John Byrne. Mike Spencer was 9th. I will try to get a time sheet.

P.S. Freddie ... I didn't go to Florida for any of the Fran Am winter series, so maybe that's why I looked doubly glum!!
