montoya's the only man who doesnt know what a red light means and cant stand up on a tennis court though. And then there's Bernie who lost his wheels. Perhaps the worst drivers around F1 in the last 5 years... |

Yoong wins by a street, the only one close is Zslow and he at least had a dogged persistence about him. |

Yoong seemed in a league by himself.
And I don't care if he's a better driver than me, he's horrible by F1 standards and that's what we're talking about. If you can't criticize him, then you can't criticize any pro athlete in any sport. Because guess what? They're better than you at their sport no matter how bad they look. So that's a moot point. In all the years I've watched racing, I can't remember anyone who stood out so blatantly. I used to love listening to the SpeedChannel announcers, "Lets try to keep all 4 tires on the road this lap lad." Or, "I see Yoong is in the gravel again. No big suprise there." Or, "Try to bring her back in one piece." It used to be one of the most entertaining aspects of the races. Just thank God he never managed to kill anyone. |

More than five years ago, but Jan Magnussen seriously underwhelmed in the Stewart. He had big wraps on him coming up into Formula One but for some reason, he couldn't turn it on in the big league. I believe, IIRC, Sir Jackie and Paul Stewart shipped him out mid-season.
In Zsolt's defence, he did nab a point for Minardi last year. I don't think he was all that bad, certainly not worse than Yoong. |

Nissany is worth a mention for managing to prang his and his teammates cars in his first day behind the wheel....
but then we're talking on the grid, and, thank god, that ain't him. |

Alex Yoong for sure. Last 10 years, Taki Inoue, he doesn't even belong in Porsche GT3 racing let alone F1.

yoong wasnt THAT i think he was pretty steady and kept it on the track most of the time... i'm not saying he should be in f1 but i don't think he's as bad as some make out.. zolt was ok considering he was never anything special before his time in f1 unlike bruni who was a massive let down really,,, hopefull he'll get it going agian after some gp2 time...

He was uncompetitive in V8 Touring cars afterwards...totally uncompetitive. That's a sign of someone who is a looong way from the standard required for even a modern f1 car. I would expect most of the current crop of F1 guys to make a strong showing in a saloon car series very quickly. I don't want to bash the guy, or jump on you for defending him, but seriously, the only way he eventually managed to keep it on the track was to be so off the pace it wasn't funny. for the cold hard facts: http://www.f1db.com/f1/page/Alex_Yoong a slightly above average Formula 3 driver. And congratulations to him for that. |

Zsolt was decent, better than Bruni, better than Pantano, better than Mazzacane, better than Yoong.
Mazzacane was slow, but he never failed to qualify. Yoong did, and he gets my gong. If only Nissany made it to the grid... Of the other drivers mentioned, I think Friesacher still has talent, and Albers has impressed me, I hope he gets a good ride next season.. And way back in 1997, Marques appeared decent. |

What about Luciano Burti? He never really did anything.
And ofcourse Yoong wasn't great - neither was Tuero or Toranosuke Takagi. And, looking behind national pride (), Nicolas Kiesa didnt really shine in his five races. |

Deletraz and Inoue are both probably worse than anyone from the last 5 years. Soem of Jean-Denis Deletraz's efforts defy belief, on one occasion he was 7 seconds slower than his team-mate (Andrea Montermini IIRC), with a time good enough for 22nd on the grid of the F3000 race.

If we're on worst ever, search for posts about Otto Stuppacher and Ottorino Volonterio. They made Deletraz look like Richard Noble.
I would suggest however that Yoong was worse than Deletraz, at least J-DD had podia in F3000. |
