A related view on this I saw recently from the Punter I think on eNews, who asked why we stick with a Winter motorsport season? It used to be summer (back in the Tasman series days etc), so why not? He correctly mentioned that soccer has sucessfully switched to summer to avoid the clash with God Almighty Football, so why couldnt V8 Supercars? Id have thought E Creek at 30 degrees in summer would pull a bigger crowd than E Creek winter, wet, cold, clashing with footy.

Depends on the calender. You cant have 300-500km of racing in places like Adelaide and Darwin when the ambient is 40 degrees.

Channel 7 tried to get the series to move to summer in the mid-90s. No one was interested, especially not IMG/Tony Cochrane when they took over.

For me (purely from a fans point of view), would be to have racing every two weeks. The wait for Oran has been draining to say the least. It's just too long. Even three weeks feels like forever! Like others have said before, if the die-hards find the gap too long, what hope have VE$A got of attracting the 'average punter'? It is a tough one though, because shorter gaps = more cars = more staff = more money. Could that be one of possible explanations of the sponsorship shennanigans, that maybe the sponsors are not happy with the willy-nilly exposure? The series really needs to be more streamlined. (although obviously hard with the teev deal). Like most things, it all comes down to the dollar... |

Get rid of Bahrain and have another round here in Oz or NZ. The only reason VESA go to Bahrain is to make more money for themselves. It has nothing to do with the actual success of the race itself.
