iRace 2011

I see that the 2011 Independant Race Series, iRace kicks off at QLD Raceway this weekend.
Who are the stars....and what are their cars?

I was out there last Saturday, I was going to be their both days but I had Top Gear Live on Sunday. I was spectating from Turn 6 where Graham Lusty had a rollover! link. (Rollover is on page 3)

I was amazed that someone was racing a Mk VII Jaguar.

Round 2, 29th of April.

Round 2 is this Friday, it should be good if the last round was anything to go by.

Not an iRace car, this is John Tupicoff's Group Nb Historic Touring Car. And why not? It's a bit heavy but has that magic Jaguar 6, and it's an Nb car so it's not competiting directly against Toranas, Escorts, Falcons, Monaros and the like.

I think it was originally built as a Targa Car but continues to live on as a regular in Queensland Group N Historic Touring Car Racing. Historic Warwick is just around the corner.

It's actually an Na car, the only one in Qld that competes regularly, so he wins his class at pretty much every meeting.

Group Na never really took off, it's been going for 16 years and I doubt that many cars have been built. Easily the second least successful Historic racing class.

Yes you're right, I properly should have mentioned it was from the Queensland Raceways Drivers Championship. It's a beautiful car and it even still has its original wood-grain dashboard.

Heads up, a couple of the iRace drivers will be on the panel as part of Speed channel's Inside Speed programme, 8:30 tonight. (Friday)

Round 3, 18th-19th of June.

iRace is on again this weekend and I'm personally looking forward to heading out to Lakeside for it.

I am looking at attending the iRace meeting at EC next Friday. Does anyone have any information about this meeting?

It will be free for spectators. They usually have a 1985 Ferrari formula 1 car racing at eastern creek, they will also have a Tesla Electric Supercar doing some demonstration laps.
