AMR to race at Nogaro
According to the entry list on fiagt.com, Aston Martin Racing will enter a Vantage GT2 at the next round at Nogaro. Stefan Mucke and Tomas Enge have been listed as the drivers and the car is set to run in the G2 class (I'm guessing this is because it is being run by the factory).

They seem to have gotten on top of the reliability issues now so hopefully we will see the true pace against the GT2 field.

Why is it running in G2, not GT2?
And I wonder what livery it will have, Gulf, like LM? Tom. |

There is a lot of interplay between Prodrive/AMR and Charouz anyway. I think the birth of the connection was probably Tomas Enge, who has been managed by Antonin for most of his career. It doesn't seem that surprising to me that he would maintain tight connections with both as they are tightly linked to each other. Charouz is but a banner anyway - AMR/Prodrive provides the team that runs the P1 coupe, just as Jota ran the P1 Lola-Judd last year.
Good stuff to see an AMR GT2 entry at long last, this project is needing a bit of full factory attention. I only hope that the car actually races rather than being entered just to practice. I'm not sure the car has full GT2 homologation with the FIA, and if it does, this chassis may be running some non-homologated development parts anyway. I assume that is the reason for entering in G2. I can't see them caring much about the scored result for a one-off entry. |

I was under the impression, that Charouz Senior funded most of the Charouz Lola AMR project?

It seems odd to me that Gigawave isn't running the car, considering they originally planned to run one in the first place.

George Howard-Chappell, Team Principal Aston Martin Racing: "2008 is a test and development year for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT2 car. Following the improving results of the car in the ALMS and LMS, we will debut the car in the FIA GT series to enable us to continue the car's development and assist the FIA to performance balance the car in readiness for 2009. The V8 Vantage GT2 will run in the Grp 2 class at Nogaro and Zolder because the car has not yet completed its full homologation. Aston Martin Racing works drivers, Tomas Enge and Stefan Mucke will drive the car." (from the FIA GT Nogaro preview) |

I wonder if it might be the E85 giving Drayson Barwell all the engine problems. It seems like the engines ran well for JWA all weekend at Silverstone.

I would think this is development with non hologated bits and, as I have said on the Nogaro thread, porbably lower weight and different restrictor size and the ALMS wing being some of the non homologated bits, something for DSC to investigate

Here are two photos of the Vantage GT2 at Nogaro,
They haven't changed the livery from when it was at the Spa Test Day. http://www.endurance-info.com/2008_F...o/Jeudi_10.JPG http://www.endurance-info.com/2008_F...o/Jeudi_11.JPG The only obvious change I can see is the rear wing. Tom. |
