Good, thanks for this.
ORECA FFSA Saleen running and reasonably competitive. Sister car to the one running at Ricard? As I said on that thread ORECA seem the only obvious outfit with the means to enter one in FIA GT as other cars/plans are either up in the air or failed to materialise. Back to thread though and nice to see 3 Vettes on the timings! BMS Astons pretty consistent. Why no Lambo's at this test though? |

there were two cars at HTTT tests. This one (http://www.endurance-info.com/2007_L..._Saleen_04.jpg) is at Nogaro. The other one, is a development car. and I think you couldn't see it before LMS Test Days. (I have some photos but I'm not authorized to publish sorry).

Yes, they're both Grand-Am models apparently. The Mustang has Blackforest's paintscheme.

Yes, I've seen that 350Z race various times in Grand Am Koni Cup. I don't recall the team though.

I've been looking around the web for anything GT4 myself, not finding a lot. Could be old news but did find today something about G&A Racing testing a BMW Z4 for GT4. I was surprised to learn about the Audi TT joining, thought a R8 might be good in GT4 as it has similar power and weight as the Aston Martin Vantage.

R8 is probably better suited for GT3, since it shares a lot with the Gallardo (which is already in GT3)

That's true, the R8 even with a V8 against the Gallardo's V10 probably wouldn't be that much slower.
I assume the TT will be the V6 model, be interesting to see how it compares to the other GT4 cars. |

I just hope that the GT4 cars can go faster than what the Aston Martin Vantage set at Monza a couple of weeks ago, a 2:06.834 isnt a terribly quick time. Hopefully by the time the season starts though they will be lapping at around 1:57 or 1:58. The top GT3 cars did a lap of 1:55.895 by way of a comparissan. Anyone got any idea how much power these cars have? Im guessing around 350-375bhp?

420? I think thats a bit optimistic when you consider cars like the Porsche 911 GT3 cup only produces around 405bhp. To think that a GT4 car would produce more I think isnt realistic unfortunately.

Well the Grand Am Mustang FR500C has 420hp, that's what I was going by, the GT4 version could have less.

Anyone think GT3 will eventually replace GT2, with current GT2's replacing GT1? Looking at the pictures on DSC, the 430 GT3 looks very advanced aerowise, these cars appear to be in the spirit of what GT2 was originally meant to be. Last edited by JAG; 10 Mar 2007 at 15:24. |

GM must be looking enviously at the greater, more relevant (to the Corvette brand) competition in GT2, while the Astons are a Prodrive funded customer effort, not dissimilar to Lola or Zytek. When we're relying on Saleen and Konigsegg (can never spell that) to boost GT1 grids, maybe it's time to embrace factory backed GT2 Porsche's, Ferrari's etc. You only need to give them a 5% power boost, plus a few kilos lighter, and they'd be on the pace, or near enough, of the GT1 machines. Allow GT3 cars a few more specialised components (and a fixed set of regs), to fill the GT2 void, with GT4 taking up the slack for teams who cannot afford the step up in competitin and finances. I'll put money on the GT scene following this route, lol And before anyone starts moaning, there's no need for the cars to be noticably slower, much of the GT1 cars sophistication is strangled by smaller restrictors and increased weight. A lightweight, slightly more powerful 'GT2' 911 RSR would be spectacular. Last edited by JAG; 10 Mar 2007 at 21:11. |

Any reason the GT2 Porsches aren't based on the turbo or the road GT2?

Any ideas what size of grid we're looking at for GT4? The GT3 one looks enormous!
