gino should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
FIA GT Rnd 9: Nogaro 28-30 Sep 2007

Hi all.

No Reiter Lambo and no Tech9 997 at the entry:

http://www.planetlemans.com/cmsv2/in...pper&Itemid=51

But we have 2 Ferrari 550 (1x Larbre, 1x Solution F), one Ferrari 430 (Advanced Engineering) and one Viper GTS-R (Red Racing) .

budget has ran out, and there isnt much point with the current 997 RSR.

With the lineups of the Ferrari brigade (a whopping 5 all-pro cars at Nogaro) and the BMS Porsche, a pro-am combo is a tough sell for success anyway. The way the FIA-GT championship is going, Intl GT Open would have been a better option for Tech9 this year.

The official Aston Martin Racing website seems to imply that Gigawave will have the ex-Barwell DBR9 entered in the final round at Zolder, with Luke Hines and Philipp Peter driving.

There was a report of this on DSC a few days back, and in Autosport yesterday- according to Autosport, it's the same car, owned by Henry Barczynski, but being run at Zolder by a new team with Barwell providing technical support.

Apparently the Gigawave Aston is planned to run a full FIA GT season next year, but Autosport are suggesting Barwell may also lease the car for Sebring and LM...

Damn those GT2 Ferraris are fast! Mixing it with the GT1 boys, Bruni/Ortelli 8th overall in first practice 2.2 sec off the fastest GT1 runner, Giannoccaro/Pier Guidi in the MC12. Fastest Porsche 6.5 sec off the pace, and 4.3 sec slower then the Ferrari...

I feel your pain, Porsche needs to get moving with the development of the 997, before it is too late.

Its been quite painful watching the GT2 Porsche this year. How could Porsche have dropped the ball so much? I'd love to know the details, I mean its not as if the F430 threat wasn't seen coming.

Anyway, what did people think of the race? It was interesting if not wildy exciting. I was gutted when the Lambo pulled in. With regards to the track itself, to paraphrase a line from a racing film, if the cars could talk, they would have said Nogaro cramps their style. A bit narrow and twisty which really reduced the overtaking opportunities in the GT1 class. Why Nogaro, considering the other French tracks available which would have suited the cars more?

Well, the Porsche 997 was introduced this season, the Ferrari 430 had already raced a full season. So the teams and Michelotto are a year ahead of Porsche with the development of the car.

But how much has the F430 moved on; not THAT much.

And yet at Spa kast year, GT2 Porsche 997 previews were quicker.

Once the Carsport Holland Corvette got into the lead it just stayed there! They came from 10th and moved up as others pitted. Once they pitted, no one got ahead of them. How did they manage that trick? Must have been a pretty good bit of driving and pit strategy!

Yeah, some of the strategy this year is still baffling me, I'm a new sportscar fan and still getting my head round it - Vitaphone Maserati are very good at it it seems, they can afford to not take on tyres quite often and it has served them well!

They pretty clearly had the best race car, that is why. They had a vehicle that was not using its tyres in qually but they nailed the setup for the warmup. The most consistent car, with 2 consistent drivers (and J-DD held himself down for once), is going to be the winner. They were still very close to the leaders even when they were running down the pack, partly because the field was well-matched and partly because Lechner bottled them up a bit for the first several laps.

I've always had quite a bit of respect for Mike Hezemans' skills as a driver. He seems to be a guy that can get the best out of his machinery. If Corvette Racing hasn't thought of it, it seems he would make an excellent replacement for Ron Fellows (when he hangs up his helmet) at LeMans, Sebring & PLM and maybe even in ALMS, if a slot opens up!!
