Wonder where is the schedule for this racing weekend.
If I had knew that the schedule had qualifying today, I would have closed the prediction competition rounds this morning. |

Good man Adri!
So only few mins to go then. Have to say I didn't necessarily expect Grosjean to be on it straight way but hats off to the guy. Looks like he's going to be something special. I still fancy either Senna or Valles for the win today though, then we'll see tomorrow. Tung's gone better in qual than his testing pace showed so I think he could be the mover of the race..... |

Hi everyone,
I guess that race 1 has started by now. Does anyone have any updates? I don't have Eurosport 2 unfortunately. Cheers, JakeC |

Assuming thrre's no spoilers in place, (There isn't i've just decided!)
Grosjean 4 secs up on Soucek, who has 2 on Senna after the stops. Valles made rubbish start and dropped to 10th but now 4th. Jelley was 2nd but one of last to stop so will rejoin well down. Grosjean got away early on after Senna was asleep and let Soucek get by. Senna quicket on track at the mo by some margin.... |

Thanks very much chunterer, top man!
Sounds like a good battle is brewing between Senna and Soucek. |

Well in the end Grosjean dominated. Senna pulled an ace move on Soucek around outside of the hairpin at end of the back straight about 4 laps from home and immediately pulled away. However it was all too late as Grosjean was 12 seconds up the road!!
Valles drove well to hassle Soucek at the end having been down the field earlier in the event with Filippi and Yoshimoto following him home. There were several spins, particularly from people coming out of pits after tyre change. Chandhok was one although he ended up in top 8. Bakkerud drove quite feistily early on but spun off and out. Other than that there wasn't much to rave about other than the fairly stunning drive from the Frenchman at the front. What do other's think? Last edited by chunterer; 25 Jan 2008 at 15:07. |

Agree with you chunterer, Grosjean looked pretty faultless. The move of the race was Senna on Soucek, and setting fastest lap makes him Grosjean's closest challenger. I'd say the sprint will be between those two.
However, I was disappointed by the race. It's probably the broader range of abilities, but the racing wasn't as intense as usual. Hopefully the reverse grid will make tomorrow more exciting. I felt sorry for Martin and Gareth with so many similarly livered cars; but calling Tahinchi a 'waste of space' made up for any confusion. It's what everyone else was thinking. |

Yes good point about the disparity of ability across the entry, there's a few people who arguably aren't too clever on how to drive these things yet along with a few who never will be so we may find a few harsh words between some drivers after some lappery has taken place!
However it's a good way for them to find out about cars (which I guess will be broadly similar to drive to the new ones) rather than jumping straight into the main series and making an arse of themselves! I think tomorrow's race will possibly be 3 way Grosjean, Senna and Valles (if he doesn't balls up his opening lap again) with Soucek getting in there or thereabouts. However as we saw last season it's much tougher for the quick boys to come through from the reverse grid and physically overtake the slightly slower guys. Chandhok and Yoshimoto will be tough nuts to crack? Last edited by chunterer; 25 Jan 2008 at 16:38. |

A good first race, nothing great but there were some very good overtakes.
Grosjean was simply awesome - he was faultless. Senna showed blistering pace, though, so will be a threat to Romain tomorrow. Can't wait to see Bruno and Romain starting 7th and 8th. And well done to Gareth Rees to say what we're all thinking - Tahinci's always been useless and I guess some things never change! |

The race was just about average i think for GP2. As usual the commentary more than made up for any lulls in race action.
Grosjean seems already to be the Rosberg, Kovalainen, Hamilton, Glock category, and with ART behind him you really have to fancy him. I agree about the big performance gap through the field, Adam Khan, who in A1GP makes Tahinci look like a courteus driver, exceeded my expectations by not finishing last. |

Was a good day out, GP2 race was reasonable entertainment with the Senna / Soucek scrap being the obvious highlight. Chandook spun right under my nose, was a bit average on cold tyres. There was a crowd of 5 at the first corner for the start, a bit of a shame that only a few people ventured beyond the grandstand (a couple of pics below)

Well, I went with the Sky+ option Martin
Shocking domination from Grosjean - a fairly uneventful race, but feel it may have been blighted by sloppy camera work to an extent. The car liveries are just way too confusing, ashame the car gallery on the GP2 Asia site hasn't been updated to try and help id the cars. |
