I was saddened to read the news of Paul Frere's passing.
He always dined at the same restaurant in Arnage as our group on a Friday night during Le Mans week, his air-cooled 911 always parked up outside. I can recommend his autobiography "My Life in Cars" as a fine read. |

Indeed, anything I've read that he's written is pretty damn good.
RIP Paul. |

Very saddened to hear the - every year at Le Mans we would have a chat about the cars and his distaste for ballast. He was going to write a column for the mag last time I spoke to him.
He was not only a good writer but a jolly nice chap - the press room at Le Mans will be a little emptier. |

The winner of the 1960 24H du Mans (with Olivier Gendebien) and co-writer of the annual has gone. It's a shock.
RIP Paul. |

A thorough gentleman who I was very proud to have met in the ACO Club at Le Mans. When I apologised for disturbing him he said "After so many years, I'm flattered to be recognised". Typical of his modesty and charm.
RIP Paul |

My only meeting with Paul was at LeMans,in 2005,I had been lucky enough to have been asked to drive an Aston DB2 in the Legends Race.Paul had been having a look around the Legends Paddock and came over to have a look at the car before qualifying. He said he would keep an eye out for me during the race. After a very hot race,I brought the car back to the paddock, and there he was, with a big beeming smile on his face, that he was there waiting is testament to the man's integrity. RIP Paul, and, thank you.
