The Giz

The Giz is a Wiz, how impressive is this young man at 18.
He can race, doesnt get fazed about a bit of biff and barge, he was hopping over kerbs, this kid is the best talent since CL....Im impressed.
and races clean...very good. well spotted SBR (Russell Who)

Actually it was FPR/Team Kiwi who got him to replace Radisich so they noticed the talent first not SBR

Mr_Cool..........Dont take offence please........But your post is factually incorrect........SBR, Ross Stone to be precise, had an option on Shanes services from early 2006.......When he first saw Shane on his way to dominating the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship.

Part of the motivation for doing the deal with TKR......Was the opportunity to get Shane much needed milage at some body else's expence.

In fact SBR's origional plan was to run Shane in the DVS season this year........However when the Paul Dumbrell deal went pear shaped........Shane was a shoe in for the drive........Despite drivers like Luke Youlden and David Besnard both thinking they were in with a chance.

You are correct v8rule.

I was impressed with both the way the Giz drove over the weekend, and his levelhead approach to the weekend. And did't he beat the bloke he replaced.

i think NAC its time to let go of your old fashioned ways and adopt his new name - "the Giz" it rhymes with wiz (short for wizard). Its the accepted term for him in the australian media now (see the latest enews)

he has stepped out of the old mans shadow and deserve to be recognised in his on right now

oh and for the record, i towlled him on Batracer

With due respect

The Giz was a much better option than other drivers avaliable.
Luff
Ritter
Besnard
Youlden
All very good drivers ....but..
Even P.D the original signing
& Bargs & Wilson

I would take the Giz, will challenge next year for podiums

Typical...the Aussie media re-mould another Kiwi sports star

Shane has always been Little Cheese over here, and bear in mind that he didn't just race (and win!!) on tarmac. He has done TQ's or midgets (can't recall) and has at least one NZ ATV Championship under his belt from memory.

I do find it amusing that you beat him, peck - Well done on joining Club 3000 too!

Oh, and be warned, I think you might find he quite likes Eastern Creek!

JDI & NAC "Little Cheese" is quite a mouthfull for most Skippys as they are still all choking on their words.

Giz is just another attempt to claim something as their own just like Phar Lap and Pavlovas.

Get back on the right track here boys.

Can anybody else remember a better driver of a touring car at such a young age..Charlie O'Brien maybe?
Even CL didnt have this sort of driver talent pool when he started.

Well it wasn't known as the Convict Colony for nothing.

Other young drivers to keep an eye on for the future would include teenagers Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber while Daniel Gaunt is no slug either.

Well scott dixon was an early tin top driver for those who remember the problems he had in a Nissan Sentra. He drove by the seat of his pants in those days.

Cheese is a great talent but he has choosen to go down the touring car path alot earlier than most drivers who are following the single seater/F1 dream eg Brendon Hartley Scott D and others.

well actually that is what we call him.

Watching the race on sunday we decided that this year our t shirts for bathurst will have a "Giz theme" in my opinion that means he has made it. So look for the bright yellow "Giz " t shirts at bathurst

Naturally it will include the line , "as beaten by peckstar on Batracer.com"

i look forward to watching him race at EC hope he gets a bit more coverage, i reckon his car came aacrross pretty good on tv

I for one will eat my words, somewhat. He did really well in Adelaide.

I wouldn't raise expectations unreasonably though - just enjoy his drives as they come along and let him gain experience.

Its no great scoop to say how he beat Russell. His car broke down, someone driving a Niki 650 uphill could beat a broken down car...

Lets hope the TV coverage gets better for him.

And Courtney should have a look at the other side of his garage on how to bring a car home on the track - not truck.
