Silverstone 5th April BARC
Just a quick note to say what a good meeting it was at Silverstone today. 2 2CV races that, apart from he winner, were fought closely. The 2 BMW races were excellant, especially the second. The MG and Austin Healey races were well run too. The only downside was the weather, cold and damp for most of the day.

Sorry to say I felt no guilt at all about being in the warm for this meeting!
I watched my home town team reach the F.A.Cup final and then a horse I had a fiver each way on win the Grand National. Only downside was Marshal and friend Brendan Murphys first ever race, which ended in disaster when he span crossing the start line on the 2nd lap of qualifying (MGB No 21) taking out another b aand ending both their days. Still there's always next time mate. |

Yes, those of us at woodcote gap were waiting for the bang on that one.
The 2cv races were good and also the BMW's...but what on earth has happened to all the MX5's, they had huge grids last season and the grids for the Healeys and MG's weren't that great either. I had a good day, but I wouldn't have been sorry if I'd missed this meeting. |

Brendan, just read this mate, sorry to hear about the bad start to your racing career.
Hope everything's fixable and you'll be out again soon. |

Enjoyed the 2CVs more than what I thought I would. First time I have seen them. I wonder if the top gear boys will be entering in their 24 hour race?

A big thank you to all the marshalls that turned out for what was an awful day weather wise. I am pleased that the sun came out for the MGOC A & F race. I did consider why I had paid to be out in the rain let alone volunteering for it.

Believe me Saturday was not an awful day weather wise. Most of us have experienced far worse. And before others get in first my swallow dive into the gravel at Luffield out with no one anywhere near me was caused by my son ignoring me. At my age your can't run, wave and shout at the same time when you have so many layers on. He thought it was the funniest thing he has ever seen at silverstone but he has only been marshalling a year. I will get my own back!

I agree this was an enjoyable meeting. The 2CVs were using each other to "modify their line" around Copse quite lot. Some very close racing in a number of categories.

Hi all
I was racing in the BMWs (Black E36 with white wheels, car 23) and just wanted to say thanks to you all! I think I will have entertained those of you at Luffield... race one I did a nice 360 and then in race two I figured you looked bored so reversed it into the gravel for you!! DOH!! Thanks again! Cheers Paul |

Nick,
There a a great many marshals who enjoy the grass roots meetings much more than all the F1 / FIA meetings with lots of politics and little good racing. I will always attend the club meetings for preference. Gerry |

Hear hear!!
Theres no FIA/F1/F3/BGT I would say no BTCC, but I'm going to the Knockhill round because the Legends are going, all that type of thing doesn't interest me...bring on the clubbies! |

I would like to say thank you to all those with me on Maggotts In. Oh there was only me flagging on my own!
Echo the points above about the good racing, much appreciated waves from the majority of the drivers. |
