Chandhok has very honestly admitted that he set his 'pole position' when there were yellow flags out, so may yet face further sanctions. Before that he was only 12th and felt he had to go for a time due to the 10-place grid drop. Buemi has also been called before the Stewards.

chandhok shouldn't have ignored the flags - considering his motivations i don't believe he should be allowed to start the race. saying you didn't see them is one thing, saying you deliberately ignored them is another.

It certainly didn't allow him much of a leg to stand on when he met the Stewards.
The usual argument in such circumstances is that as the track was getting quicker all the time, he would still have been quicker through the yellow flag sectors even if he had eased off a little. |

Can't access the GP2 site for some reason.
So what's the deal with Di is he a Grassi a DNS then? Why was he that slow, did he stack it?? Typical i originally picked Conway in predictions then decided to replace him!! Good line up though I think, Senna must win. Surprised Pastor in 10th after recent form but bet he'll come through in the race! |

I thought Senna would take his drive-through as soon as the Safety Car came in, but I suppose iSport know best.
I hoped Parente would pick up the win, but it was not to be. Grosjean drove a very mature race. Very strange afternoon for Giorgio Pantano. |

Pantano had to take the risk for that 8th spot, he had nothing to lose since Senna wouldn't score anyway and if he had managed to pull it off, he could effectively kill off the championship before Monza. But risks do not always work.

Maldonado tried two times to pass his teammate, but did it at the wrong manner... Fortunately he restored the position to Zuber to avoid penalization.

didnt need to take the risk at all, was already in 8th which gives pole for tomorrow. he simply stuffed up and couldn't stop it in time, feel really sorry for Di Grassi.

I'm very sorry for Di Grassi too. Giorgio took an unnecesary risk and stomped the Brazilian out of the race when the race was about to conclude.

Anybody know why Senna got penalized for a facsimile of the Massa pit box release ? Different rules for GP2 or different rules for Ferrari ?

I imagine the unsafe release rule is the same and IMO the penalty imposed on Massa was wrong but that's another subject...for me the main difference is that the GP2 pitlane is much more congested and Senna came very very close to taking out another team's mechanic. I can't see that the Stewards had much choice in this case (of course it helps that he wasn't driving an all red car of course )

Different rules for GP2? It seems strange that in the championship where there are more mechanics in the pitlane, more powerful cars and refuelling, the penalties for unsafe pit release aren't as severe as in GP2. I absolutely agree with the Senna penalty; I just think Massa's was too light and inconsistency is not good for the credibility of the FIA.
I thought it was a little odd that the race started behind the safety car. I understand the conditions changed at the last minute, but I feel the drivers could have handled it. I also wondered about some of Senna's tactics at the restarts, backing the field up to such an extreme. Pantano's drive was not that of the most experienced man in the field. As has already been mentioned, he could have put himself in a very strong position to finish the championship if he hadn't spun at La Source. Good that Valsecchi has suffered no major injuries, it was a big accident. Grosjean's most mature performance so far this season. Looking forward to tomorrow's race. Pantano disqualified from the event for the accident with di Grassi and for overtaking behind the safety car.
Zuber disqualified for unauthorised repairs. |

I suppose that was not his plan. Also I find the penalty totally unexplainable, grid penalties were handed out for such things, now suddenly it is a DQ. Why don't they exclude Pantano from Monza as well and get it done with?
