Potential FIA GT1/GT2 Image
There was an image put out by the FIA showing which cars would fit in their potential new GT1/GT2 classes. Does anyone have that pic?

Ya, that's it, thanks. What was the displacement limit that would separate GT1 from GT2? Was it 4.0L? 5.0L? Something else?

GT1 will be open for cars with 5.5 liter engines (or more) and GT2 will be for the 5 liter or less engines.

Its all Ratel's head-in-the-clouds ideas, nothing serious.
Shouldn't we have heard something about new GT rules by now? |

It's still go for 2010 according to Ratel, but if cars aren't eligible for Le Mans, it may as well be another DTM type series.

http://www.planetlemans.com/2008/12/...on-of-ford-gt/ Ratel: So where are you with your GT1 World Championship plans ? Do you intend to go ahead in 2010 ? I am very pleased to welcome promoters here from many places around the world, including the promoters from Moscow for the race which will take place in 2010. So yes, I am absolutely committed. There are still some final conversations and discussions with the FIA and President Mosley, but I am totally committed to start the World Championship in 2010 as planned. http://fiagt.com/newsitem.php?key=1888 I thought the World Championship idea would get approved/rejected two weeks ago when World Motor Sport Council had meetings but maybe it was not on the table because there's nothing about it on the list of decisions: http://www.fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre...ages/list.aspx Last edited by deggis; 25 Dec 2008 at 16:58. |

PRESIDENT Mosley? Wouldn't his old man be proud.
There are some interesting 'speculations' on car eligibility on that chart! Like a 430 straight into GT1, but a 997 staying as GT2? |

The answer is very simple with GT racing:
GT2 becomes the world GT class, call it 'World GT (WGT)', it will be the only class in Ratel's World GT championship and the only GT class in LMS/ALMS. Limit works cars to two per manufacturers and have a independent's trophy as per WTCC. 500km races apart from the Spa 24, the Tourist Trophy (which should be 4 hours), the Mil Milhas (1000 miles), and a 600km race at San Luis. |

Ah, ok. Bit of a shame/missed opportunity perhaps? Having a car which is able to enter both classes makes it commercially more interesting for both manufacturers and teams.
