Champ69 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Benetton

I was just looking at some pictures of Benetton testing at Barcelona 3-6/7/2001 and they are running last years car. Why wouldn’t they be trying to fix their current spec car. Benettons car could not be that bad.

This year's car is an absolute dog. There are probably parts they wish to test which they can get no meaningful feedback with this year's car, so they use last year's. Alternatively they may be trying to compare old with new to see exactly where they've gone wrong.

Benetton are using last year's car for tyre testing of the Michelins. This allows them to concentrate on the development of this year's B201 (supposedly). I would assume that they would also use it for comparative purposes. However, Mark Webber in the B200 has been consistently quicker than Button and sometimes quicker than Fisi. May I suggest that they enter last year's car in the upcoming races.

When we spoke to Button at testing way back before the season started, Benetton were thinking of using the 2000 car for the whole season until a new 2001 chassis was built. It would seem to make a lot of sense.

Hey MF, maybe you could speak to the bunsen again and find out what's cooking. I'd like to know what Renault intends to do to make their 111 degree V10 engine work properly, as well as what their problems are specifically. I have noticed in the past few years that Benneton was the most inconsistant of all the GP cars, running really well at some circuits and poorly at others. About three years ago, they had this brand new wind tunnel, and I predicted they could win the championship, and everyone here laughed at me. Since then, things have changed significantly, they are no longer inconsistant.

Mr VB, I would, but Benetton are not due to test at Silverstone again this season. Which is a shame, because Jenson just pulled up, stopped and had a chat with us! Nice bloke.

I don't believe the words "Jenson" and "nice bloke" appeared in any of your posts last year Mfan.

They were seriously considering using last years car AND supertec engine, because the package under this years regs. was over a second faster!!

They're now saying that Renault have been misleading us, and that the V Angle is a mere 101 degrees...
