Predictions Competition - Round 1 - Thruxton - RESULTS

Time to kick off another season of BTCC predictions. At stake is a years subscription to this very site, however the best part is the accolade of being crowned champion I'm sure you'll agree.

Anyway, as per the same as the WTCC points scoring system, we have changed them for the BTCC too, for the same reason - we felt too many lucky guesses resulted in runaway winners.

Points are now awarded thus:
  • Predicting correct pole: 3 pts
  • Predicting correct winner: 3 pts
  • Predicting correct 2nd: 2 pts
  • Predicting correct 3rd: 2 pts
  • Predicting driver but not in correct position: 1 pts
  • Fastest Lap of all three races: 3 pts

You all know who's racing by now (less a late entry or two maybe ) but just incase here's the entry list: http://btcc.net/html/drivers.php

Just copy, paste and complete this form: (entries close 10.10am BST on Saturday 3rd April)

As Hazard's tiebreaker for the WTCC seems quite a good idea, I'll blatantly steal it, make sure you answer this on your first entry.

How many thousanths of a second will the pole position lap be at the season finale? E.g. if it was 2:02.334, your guess is 334

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Surely a better (less random), and fairer tie-break would be guessing the number of points scored by championship winner?

For all the years we've been doing these competitions I dont think we've ever had to resort to the tie break, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Not fair as people often don't start entering their tiebreaks until later in the season. We need something that can be entered at any time. Waiting until one race before the end then guessing the total points is a bit uneven.

As TL says though, tie breaks are rarely used, and skill isn't exactly the main factor in this competition, more pot luck
