F1 intake+Rain...?
Anyone know what happens to an engine ,suchas an f1,when it rains?Does it have much effect?Do they change the engine settings?

Well.....the intake charge would be cooled somewhat. An F1 engine management system must have the same components that any modern car would have. ie mass air flow sensor, intake manifold presure and temp sensors. The sofware should be able to make changes to fuel ratio and rai is just another variable. Relative humidity is taken into account when the car is set up before a test run, qualifier or race.
Bottom line..........I don't know. Anybody else out there know? Mike |
