RX150
Hi - does anyone know what sort of costs would be involved in hiring one of these on a per event basis, or indeed for the season?
Does anyone actually hire them out, or are they all pre-owned. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as look toward 2011 cheers andy |

Hi Andy,
I don't know exactly what the price is for hiring machines but it's definitely an option. My Dad and I bought a 2nd hand one last year and race alternate events. The people to get in touch with are Ollie O'Donovan or Willie Woods (also the clerk of the course at many British Rallycross rounds). Willie's mobile number is 07949 600 175. Alternatively you can email info@rxracing.co.uk or check the website http://www.rxracing.co.uk/ Buggies cost £20k new but 2nd hand machines can be bought from £13k depending on prior usage with the option of leaving all transport and maintenance costs with RX Racing who attend every meeting. If you spectate at any British Rallycross events, the best thing would be to come and have a chat with the team in the paddock. I hope you have very little racing experience - Dad and I are getting sick of always coming last! Adam |

I hve sent off an email to RX, but I am hoping I might be able to head down to Lydden this weekend so will swing by for a chat if that is OK. Second hand one might be the route for me as well, the issue I had was storage but if RX can take car of this and maintence that really helps out on that front, if you don't mind could you give me an idea outside of the costs of the buggy what average running costs are for you on a event or season (outside of accomdation travel etc) and what sort of costs RX charge to maintain etc? Really hoping to get on their for next year as I just like the look of it all, I have done a bit of RX in stock hatch and then did one event year or so ago in hired BMW in the RXOC but didn't pull my finger out, so I certainly expect to be toward the back of the pack to keep you company!! Cheers Andy |

Definitely come over for a chat at Lydden. You'll see all the buggies lined up together and the drivers are usually milling around.
Dad and I aren't racing this weekend but we'll certainly be there all day watching / chatting. Our plan for the rest of this year is for Dad to do Blyton and both of us do Pembury hiring an extra buggy. We might also buy a second one for next year. As far as I know Dad did 6 rounds last year and the season cost him about £5,000 for running costs, maintenance, hotels, travel etc. Obviously the cost of buying the buggy was on top of that. Dad could probably give you a specific breakdown of costs on Monday. Why not do an 'arrive and drive' option for one event this year and see how you find it? We both have ZERO racing experience apart from this so you'll probably still be ahead of us! |

Looking on the positive side if you had been running at the back at Lydden at least you would have avoided the carnage at the front

Apologies I didnt make it to Lydden, and I doubt I will be able to get to Pembrey for the last round, do you guys participate in any other rounds/events where could possibly come and have a chat.
I did drop an email to RX but havent heard anything back from them, but I expect if I go this route next year perhaps the hiring of a RX150 will be the initial route to go to see how I fair! |
