2011 Formula Renault 2.0 UK / NEC / Alps
The Italian and Swiss FR2.0 championships have merged into a new FR2.0 Alps. Actually, the FR2.0 WEC could be considered to merged into it too, since most races were held in France. So the circuits would be distributed like this:
UK: England and Scotland NEC: Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Finland, Czech Republic?, Belgium? Alps: Italy, France, Hungary, Germany?, Czech Republic?, Belgium? |

WEC/French FR2.0 doesn't exist any more.
One would think Austria is closer to the Alps than Northern Europe and that Alpine race in Belgium is rather weird... + I don't think NEC will visit Finland again. |

Ok, this isn't FR2.0, but another thread would be useless. The F4 Eurocup only lasted a year, since it will revert to a Franch championshio for 2011 (more info). There would be a race at Spa and another at Pau.
Spain will have a FR1.6 championship too. It will be run by V-Line with the same cars on Clio Cup weekends. That's a logical move: making teenagers travel across Europe isn't the best. Making several national championship is a better strategy. |

isn't it an evolution of 2000 lights or whatever it was called last year where they used the old 2000 chassis?

I think Challenge FR2.0 Italia is what Italian Renaults were called in 2010... apparently the merger between Italian and Swiss series into "Alps" wasn't complete and Italians will keep their own parallel series (for old Tatuus cars only, I presume).
Formula 2000 Light is a different series and it's not exclusively for FR2.0 cars but allows FMaster and F3 cars too. http://www.formula2000light.it/ http://www.renaultsportitalia.it/page.aspx?id=3 Last edited by Valker; 15 Dec 2010 at 11:31. |

Challenge Italia seems to be aimed at 2000 Lights, which is a good little championship allowing all specs of FR2.0, F3s, FM and even Formula Gloria. The grids were most of the time over 20 cars, mostly FR2.0 from the latest 2 specs.

Wish they would have something like that in the UK where you can run at low ride height and full power. Certainly looks good from having had a look at their site.

Other club series have the crazy 40mm MSA rule amongst other handicapping measures so you can never enjoy the full potential of the car. Only time to really open the car up is in testing |

that's a shame, but is that something they can legislate against? it seems like a good way to learn the type of cars. would it be feasible to say ok, you can't have more than 2 people working on a car or if you enter the uk championship you can't enter barc?

Does anyone know where 2010 NEC Champion Ghidi and Italian champion Friso will race this year? I've seen several drivers move up (or stay in the same series), but not the champions themselfs.
