Revival Brussels Grand Prix F1

Over the weekend of 2–4 September 2011, the 'Formula Club' from Belgium will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Brussels Grand Prix.
In 1961 and 1962, the Brussels GP was organized as a non-championship Formula One race. Jack Brabham won in 1961, Willy Mairesse was the winner in 1962.

During the weeked of 2-4 September, there will be demonstration runs of:
- Pre-war single-seaters racing cars
- Pre-1966 F1 cars
- Pre 1985 F1 cars
- Formula Club’s pre-1990 single seaters cars

The organizers hope the new Brussels gathering in the shadow of the Atomium can be a prelude to actual racing in the future.

Amazing weekend in Brussels. Great atmosphere and a lot of magnificent racing cars from the past. A wonderful tribute to the non-championship F1 races from 50 years ago. The organizers are already dreaming of a new edition in 2012 (and perhaps more...).

Brussels police had to intervene on Saturday afternoon when Bernard de Saint Hubert in the ex-Brambilla Surtees TS20 and Christophe d'Ansembourg in the ex-Hunt McLaren M26 went a little bit too quick on the demonstration track at the Atomium.

Impressions : here.

Looks good. Isn't there some weird thing about photos of the Atomium?

Hi Roger, the weird thing is that pictures of the Atomium have a copyright. I asked around and they told me it's not allowed to sell pictures of the Atomium. A bit like taking pictures during a F1 Grand Prix, the copyright of your picture is owned by the F1 Association.

Great stuff Pedro. Amazing scenery too. Seems like we have another Goodwood.

Far from .... amateuristic organisation, hardly any publicity was made in the Flemish press and I would have loved to see a Porsche 718 (they could have asked Porsche, they send it around the world all the time) or a Ferrari sharknose (we have a perfect replica in Belgium). I agree with the scenery though.
