Has anyone been to the Canaries to see the ERC rally this week-end?
Has anyone SEEN Kubica's right hand? How is it... REALLY? I just wanna know how's my favorite driver doing... |

I think the fact that he has dispensation to run a sequential gearbox is a pretty good indication that he's still some way off being back to 100%. He undoubtedly has good pace in the car so the driving ability is still there and he's still got the commitment - it's just that he's not right physically yet (will he ever be?). I don't think he'll be going back to F1, rally or DTM (and maybe GT) would seem to be where his future is.

You cant run anything else but a seq box in WRC Bert, the newer cars are not allowed to run flappy paddle at all even in WRC

I believe the theory goes something along the lines of you start out as a young driver with the basic car and add bits to it as you gain experience until you hit the top with a full blown WR car. Of course that's complete garbage and will never happen but hey ho - those in the ivory tower know best.

Do any of you plan to attend the Wales Rally in the coming weeks?
If you do, it would be very much appreciated if you could go and "spy" on the situation of Robert's health... |

I will be there but a tad busy as competing on the National event.
I spoke to him for a while in Spain last month, but to be honest didn't look or even think of it - certainly in terms of results this year he has been impressive. |

Robert was out testing in Wales yesterday - I don't expect him to challenge the podium. He'd be better off taking it steady, and increasing his pace during the event. |

Another Kubica article on the BBC:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/24907004 Sad to say it does look like it's game over as far as single seaters go. Next year I'd expect him to carry on with rallying or go to WTCC with Citroen maybe or into the DTM with Mercedes (he's already tested one of their cars and has been doing F1 simulator work for them). |

But he had a few good years and won a race and that's more than most people will do. Still it appears he can contribute in other areas and continue to compete for years to come. And that's good for him. |
