Same weekend as Brands Superprix, so will be interesting to see how healthy grids are at both. In theory, with HF1, World Sportscars, FIA spec pre 66 Touring cars, plus a 3hr race for Gentleman Driver people and pre 66 TCs again, it should attract different cars to HSCC at Brands. There's another appearance for the CanAm cars as well, along with a '70s Celebration race for later saloons and GTs, plus a visit from across the border by Scottish Sports and Saloons?

After considering this and the SuperPrix we have decided to attend Donington.

Scottish Classic Sports and Saloons will be in attendance - I hope to be there too, spectating and taking photos. Entries at Knockhill have been low this year and last I heard, not many expected at Donington. I will update when I get any news. Scottish BMW Compact Cup will also be at this event. |

Sunday Donington for me. Closer and a more interesting programme, personally.
Hey come on you can't beat a Can-Am for spectacle, |

Well, IMO there's only one reason to do that, and it's lack of entries for one or other or both. If it's low numbers off CanAm cars causing the merge then wouldn't come as a surprise. Hope I'm wrong, for those spectating especially...

Agreed Mike. Unfortunately, Masters tend to publish the entry lists very close to the event.

It can't be easy trying to guess months in advance which owners and which cars might able and willing to appear where during the year. Sharing the weekend with others may not appeal and having at least some distraction elsewhere in the same country won't help. Add in Monaco Classic year budget demands and Le Mans classic coming up plus the potential of a few logistical issues and perhaps the knock on effect of tyre supply problems ..... and it's not far short of amazing that anyone turns up at all! (I may be stretching things there somewhat.) It will be interesting to see the entry list and compare it with Brands Hatch. |

Masters entry list now available and at first glance looks a little underwhelming. Seams that having the Brands SuperPrix on at the same weekend has caused a problem.

Underwhelming is a polite way of putting it!
The Masters entries are a disaster in most races. Finally maybe lessons will be learnt re head to head clashes. |

Doesn't look too bad to me?
F1 has a good field as does the 3 hour. Can am wouldn't be huge this close to the Classic in case any damage! |

Enjoyed the racing today despite the squalls.
Not sure what Donington are playing at though, no infield parking, no catering anywhere apart the paddock diner and the grass/weeds on the Craner banking is a foot high. I understand why the Masters entries are thin but the host circuit could give a damn for the spectators. |

Hi Brands, i'll fully agree with that. I was very surprised to see no burger vans any were (Were they already expecting a lack of spectators?) The infield was just as bad and made for very heavy going getting round the place.
For a major event the lack of spectators was startling, I've seen more on clubbie meets! One other thing, during the lunch break (after the karts had done their demo) i had a walk down the pitlane as i have done at many events to get a good look at the cars, a person in a black Donington Park t-shirt - NOT a marshal - came and barked at me that as i was member of public i had to leave ASAP. I don't mind being asked to leave just his tone and manner was very unplesent. Apart from the above and the normal British weather, it was a good days racing. The 3 way lead fight in the F1 was great to watch. |

Weather a lot better today. First race of the day was the Scottish Classics Sports and Saloon Car Championship - really good race, very entertaining. Can only post one photo from phone for some reason. Will do a few more when home tomorrow.

Excellent day today, it was my sons first historic event and he loved it, getting up close to the cars in the pits, chatting to Martin Stretton just before he jumped into the Tyrrell 012, the amazing noise of the Lola T70's, Matra 650etc, brilliant day all round.

Apologies for the awful photo published yesterday - it looked okay when I transferred from camera to phone - must get some new specs!
So here's a couple of batches from the two Scottish Classics races which were both very entertaining: |

A few from the two Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic races (uploaded out of sequence, sorry). I wasn't expecting much from these races but again quite entertaining.

A few from the two Historic Formula One races - both won by Nick Padmore in the Williams (by less than a second on each occasion):
