Lynx Formula Junior - any other owners on here?
Hi all. First post - probably in the wrong sub-forum.
Just bought a 1961 Lynx FJ car - with an interesting engine. Looking forward to getting its HTP papers sorted and giving it one or two outings before the season ends. Looks like really interesting racing - amazed at the lap times really for 1960s cars with just 1100 cc to play with. |

I hope so.
Looking forward to some racing and tinkering with the car. Sadly Revival is only once every 4 years for drum brakes/rear engine and I missed invite window by 3 weeks - so I have a LONG wait! |

Welcome to the forum John!
I'm looking at the pics on an iPad and the engine isn't very clear.... Looks a flat twin? |

Borgward water cooled, alloy flat four.
I have lots of pics - but don't want to bore the non-Lynx, non-Borgward fans!! Last edited by johnfm; 24 Jul 2017 at 17:51. |

The car was reviewed in period in Australian Autosportsman magazine - which is quite nice to have. |

Is it just me, or are others not seeing all the posts? Mike seems to be having a correspondence with John that doesn't appear on this thread. At least two posts are hidden from my view.

Ah, I went back and added a picture into my earlier post - but it seems posts with pictures in are reviewed by moderators prior to actually posting.

What an unusual and interesting car - will be great if it can be made competitive. Love the throttle linkage!

Engine was rebuilt a few years ago by previous owner and runs to 8000 rpm - so we'll soon see if it is capable of decent lap times. I expect my skill (or lack of) will be the determining factor though!! |

Thanks for the welcome all.
Very new to it all - so lots of fun to be had getting to grips with the car, getting it HTP's, sourcing bits and pieces etc. Anyone know if FJ owners puts these cars on a dyno to get an idea on output? Or is it easier just to get on a test day and see what times it can do? |

A trip to a rolling road would be a lot quicker (and cheaper) than trying to achieve the same at a circuit, the main thing will be to get it running reliably and reasonably well - as you get the miles in you will then find plenty of areas for improvement. |

Mike, you could obviously see the posts before us mere mortals could because it all seems to make sense now, and I can see the posts that you and John quoted. Thanks for responding. |

A very hastily shot i-phone video of the first start in a few years.
I can't wait to hear it without the silencers... https://youtu.be/JGj2nJitXls |

I notice you're in Old Woking. I have seen a Formula 750 car being rolling roaded at Brooklands Horsepower in Byfleet so they might be able to help. Failing that, Delta swears by Peter Baldwin's rolling road in Royston(?) It may seem like a long way to go but Peter's breadth of knowledge is huge.

Good call on Brooklands Horsepower. I work 5 minutes away - so not a terrible option.
